I'd like to second the other two answers you got on your other questions, especially the one from Katharine.
In addition, I'd like to add that in order to receive better answers, I'd suggest being more specific in your question.
Are you looking to START a non-profit organization? Are you looking to JOIN one? Are you just looking for fund raising ideas?
Again, I would support Katharine's suggestion of getting hooked into a local non-profit first, finding out what holes need to be filled, how the process works, etc.
Have you also contacted your local chamber of commerce and pitched the idea to them?
It sounds like a great idea, tearing down old buildings and putting up nice, ecologically friendly spaces, but you're going to have to pay for the land or convince the owner to let you do that. Oh the Better Business Bureau in your area would be able to help also. Good luck, I think it's great you have a volunteering spirit and want to help out!
