When I was a Mormon, wearing a cross was forbidden. The cross was actually portrayed as being evil. Mormons will deny this, and there is probably no official doctrine, but the general mantra is that crosses are used by the other church(es) which are considered to be the "great and abominable church'.

I used to work at the dollar store with this Mormon goober (he was a huge NERD ... 27 year old returned missionary and still single ... if you come back from your mission and you ain't married within the year then you got no GAME, homie).

I asked him about the cross thing (just to see what he would say ... I was semi-raised and baptised Mormon and promptly left that nonsense when I was 13 and my parents let me choose) and he told me that Christians celebrate the death of Christ but he and his ilk believe in the "living" God.

I told him that, actually, Christians use the symbol of the cross as a powerful reminder that Jesus died on the cross to absolve the sins of man, and how important that is to the average believer (I'm an atheist, so I don't believe any of this crap, you know). He didn't know how to answer that one. Just tried to change the subject.

Whatever they wish John 10:34 to say, it does not support their position. The Mormon can only say he hopes to become a god. Psalm 82 and John 10:34 are in the present tense, a distinction apart from their position. In fact, upon a reading of Psalm 82, it is wonder that Mormons would want to identify with the psalm at all. It says nothing good about these men. But if that is the position they desire, only the judgment of God follows.
Furthermore, the Mormon should be made aware that LDS Apostle James Talmage correctly identified the “gods” of psalm 82 and john 10:34 when he wrote, “Divinely appointed judges Called ‘gods.’ In Psalm 82:6, judges invested by divine appointment are called ‘gods.’ To this Scripture the Savior referred in His reply to the Jews in Solomon’s Porch. Judges so authorized officiated as the representatives of God and are honored by the exalted title ‘god.’” (Jesus the Christ, 501).

1 Corinthians 1:18 says the PREACHING of the cross, not the WEARING of the cross. No one should have told you to take off a cross, unless it was one of those gaudy "bling" crosses. There is nothing in the Bible that says that one must wear a cross to prove their Christianity. No one in the Bible ever wore a cross or used it. I was taught, AS A METHODIST, that the early church used a fish rather than a cross to identify each other and their places of worship. The cross, back then, was the most feared form of execution. When I read what happens to the human body when hanging like that, it's no wonder it's not used any more, as it would be THE definition of cruel and unusual punishment.

If you want to wear a cross, that's up to you. I have no problem with it. I would never judge you for it. But do NOT judge ME for choosing NOT to wear one.

You can wear what you like. I JUDGE that some expressions of faith are appropriate and others are not. It's like I see a flag on a shirt, and think that's fine. I see it on someone's posterior, and think it's bad taste.

The interesting thing is that in your statement, you JUDGED it was different to wear a simple cross rather than one with bling.

I am Christian because I made a covenant at baptism to take his name upon me and always keep His commandments.

I am not sure why the churhc is so BIG on this becaue rappers wear a cross and people who are not really christian wear one, and then their are people who are not Mormons who say, "if jesus died by leathal injection, would you waer a shot, around your neck?" I did see an Assembly of God person wear a nail once, but that was when i was a mormon and it was forbidden for me to wear a cross. Actually looking back, mormons worship Joseph Smith more then Jesus as if he were Jesus, and there are no crosses on their churches neither. The bible preaches against angel worship in Colossians 2:18, and the Mormons have an angel on the top of their temples, anyways...

LDS (Mormon) here! I don't judge anyone for wearing the cross. In fact, I think it's cool that they are expressing their faith in Jesus Christ! I just prefer to express my faith a little differently, that's all. LDS like to focus more on the resurrected Christ (instead of the dying Christ) because we believe that he lives today in all of us. It doesn't mean we aren't grateful for his sacrifice, though. Christ has given us the opportunity for Eternal life and we are unspeakably thankful for that!

The problem with most idiot mormons is that they believe that if the prophet said it, it's okay for them to be juvenile and condescending in their dialogs with other denominations. It's all right to say you are wrong and we will tell you so because our beloved but doddering prophet condones it.

Ask the mormons about the little symbols on their underwear or secret temple handshakes, or 'temple names'. Then tell them the 'christian' view of such demonic symbologies.

President Hinckley explains, " I do not wish to give offense to any of my Christian colleagues who use the cross on the steeples of their cathedrals and at the altars of their chapels, who wear it on their vestments, and imprint it on their books and other literature. But for us, the cross is the symbol of the dying Christ, while our message is a declaration of the Living Christ.”

The minister then asked, “If you do not use the cross, what is the symbol of your religion?”

President Hinckley replied, " that the lives of our people must become the most meaningful _expression of our faith and, in fact, therefore, the symbol of our worship." (Gordon B. Hinckley, “The Symbol of Our Faith,” Ensign, Apr. 2005, 3)
President Hinkley is the Prophet and President of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints...what you call "Mormons"
And they don't judge people for wearing a cross...since their articles of faith state they believe in allowing people to worship, how where or what they may.
