I guess they should get the same fine that Jr.'s team got.

Yes, I think that they should lose points. I do not know exactly how many points should be docked, but NASCAR decided to be really strict on the COT inspections. Dale Jr was docked 100 driver points for infractions due to a wing mount. His crew chief was suspended too.
If NASCAR is going to drive home a point about being strict with the COT, then they need to fine any and everyone when inspections are failed. One thing NASCAR has always lacked was a clear penalty list (if you do this incorrectly, then the punishment is this). Hopefully if people know what the penalties are, they will be extra careful about the car specs.
I'm not saying that Johnson and Gordon were trying to cheat, because I doubt that is the case (at least not for Gordon, even though I'm not a fan he doesn't have a track record of bending the rules). I also don't think Jr's infractions were to knowingly gain an edge. As for Johnson, his crew chief (not Johnson himself) has been known to push the envelope and make shady decisions.

Yes. The penalty should be the same that Dale Jr had for his car being outside of specifications.
100 Driver points
100 Owner points (each, so total 200 for Hendrick)
$100,000 Crew Chief fine
6 race Crew Chief suspension
This is a perfect opportunity for NASCAR to shake off some of that "unequitable penalty" perception.

I don't think that any driver should be lose points to something that does not involve them. Jr. shouldn't have lost points, the drivers don't build and make the cars, the builders and chiefs do. The owner should lose the only points, and the crew chiefs their fines suspensions for their part. The driver comes to the track on Friday and a Semi unloads a car and he drives it. He didn't do anything to it but have suggestions about mirrors and his seat.

yes just like JR did and both of there Crew Chiefs should lose there job for 6 weeks. Make everything fair. If nascar doesn't well the theories will start hitting the fan, that nascar favors Hendrick and Johnson and Gordon.

I haven't seen Jr fans on here contest that he should have lost points when getting caught for that wing bracket infraction.
But i noticed that when Gordon and Johnson blatantly cheat, they supposedly did nothing wrong, and this is a whole fender were talking about here, not some silly bracket. The wide fender on Gordon and Johnson cars was to gain an unfair advantage on the rest of the competition with more downforce. That's called cheating in my book.
Eye for and eye, take the points away and fine them.

Lose a hundred points? Yes. It is a decent penalty. The fine should be changed. 100k is a mere pittance of a racer's winnings. If you want to keep folks from doing it than give a fine that will stop them from doing it. A million bucks out of the pockets of both the owner and the driver may make them think twice. And if they are caught again, make it ten times worse. Sorry, got off track there. A hundred points is fine.

Well as far as loosing points I dunno.....losing points I would think they should.
If Nascar can come down hard on everyone else then the should on Gordon and Johnson.
100 points each/$100,000 fine/loss of crew chief for 6 races.

I feel that Gordon should lose 100 points and Johnson should lose 150-200 because they have been busted in the past years for multiple infractions. If Jr lost 100, then they should as well.

Well time to see just how fair the Piper is across the board.
Should equal (at the least) the same as JR's COT penalties....
However, NASCAR already pentalized them with practice restrictions, so I see a far cry from what JR got.
Court is now open!

Heres whats going to happen. 100 driver points each with HMS totaling 200 points. Probation for Steve Letarte and a suspension (6 races) for Chad. $50,000 fine for both. It wont be as harsh as Jr's because NASCAR will say it was the "gray area"
