So, I was thinking. When God destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah, he let Lot and his wife leave the city, because they were the only good people or whatever. He told them not to look back or they would have the same fate as the civilians of the cities.
Well, Lot's wife looked back, and saw the Angels destroying the town and she turned to salt.
There is the tower of salt, that looks like a lady, by the dead sea...
Archeaologists basically say there were no Sodom and Gomorrah(and the other 2 or 3 cities that were destroyed) because they can't find any evidence of them.
Well, if the people turned into salt, wouldn't the water that is now covering the city, turn into salt water....and since the angels burnt the city, wouldn't the buildings turn into ash, and then rot?
I just think this gives a reasonable explaination to why they can't find the cities....do you think it is reasonable, or alittle far fetched??

Many of you have told me how there were 2 cities found near the dead sea....the thing is not only 2 cities were destroyed..... Sodom, Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim were the towns destroyed...I think there is a 5th, but I couldn't find it....so I could be wrong.
That is why I do NOT believe these ruins are the remains of S&G....

actually there is evidence that supports the existance of Soddom and Gomorrah. AND there is now evidence that supports their destruction was exactly like the biblical account of fire raining down on them. Seems there is evidence that there were meteor showers in the area where those cities stood.
Discovery channel has stuff on this all the time.

In 1983 I spent 6 weeks on a dig at the site known as Numeria. This is one of the sites that is often refered to as one of the Cities of the Plain destroyed by God and recorded in Genesis. The dig director was Dr. Michael Coogan of the Harvard Semitic Museum and professor at Harvard Divinity School. These ruins are dated to approximately 2550 BC. Bab edh-Dhra, first "excavated" by W.F. Albright in the 1920's or 30's (don't recall which exactly), is located 15 K north of Numeria. Only a portion of the city of Numeria remains due to the Wadi Numeria changing course over time and cutting through the antidaluvial fan upon which Numeria sits. This was the fourth dig at the site (1977, 1979, 1981, 1983), and, as far as I know, the last. Numeria was first noted by Drs Walter Rast and Thomas Schaub in 1973.
Two "cities" were found at the site. Between these two was a layer of ash from the destruction of the lower city. This layer varied in depth and indicated that the first city suffered destruction that was complete. No cause was found for the fire, but the fact that only two skeletons were found in the city and that they were found under the remains of the North Tower of the wall, seems to indicate that the first city was destroyed through an earthquake. There is no good reason as to why the other inhabitants of the city were not found, but it is speculated that the earthquake started off with small tremors that forced the people out of the city before the main quake destoyred it. The two men caught inside may have been the last ones, or gaurds who remained at their posts.
Bab edh-Dhra has a history that extends much longer and covers close to 1,000 years. There is a very large burial ground to the south of the city which provided many examples of pottery and personal belongings that aided in the dating of the city. (It was on this cemetery that the Army of Saudi, Arabia sent to fight the Jews in 1948, camped and stayed there throughout the fight, only leaving to return home. None of them ever fight in the war.) Bab edh-Dhra shows signs of several destructive levels and many rebuildings.
The dating of these cities as well as the quick rebuilding of them after their destruction, precludes them from being the Cities of the Plains. In fact, those who made the first claims for them being Sodom and Ghommorah, have said they no longerr believe they were.
The latest theory that I have seen is based on radar images found under water in the northeast corner of the Dead Sea. But they are too far under the water and silt that they can not be excavated.
By the way, the Dead Sea has no outlet for all the water that enters it, therefore it is rich in minerals and is "harvested" by both the Israelis and Jordanians. the largest mineral "mined" is potash. Both of the factories on the southern side of the Sea were build and managed by Americans who lived close to the factories. Yet the Jordanian crew had to call somewhere in Europe and have that office call the Israeli side , then use the European office as a go-between to ask questions or seek information needed. I always thought that was strange, but funny.
All five Cities of the Plain will never be found. There are two reasons--1.) Genesis discribes an annihalation, not a destruction. The Hebrew words used there indicate that. This would leave very little remains. 2.) No one would rebuild on those sites since they would know the history of their distruction. In fact, they would probably remove any evidence of their existance and allow the area to become overgrown with brush.
Concerning the pillar of salt. There are large mounds of minerals and salts in and around the Southern protion of the Dead Sea area. There, just off the road to Eliat, is a large salt formation that has been called "Lot's Wife" for thousands of years. Through time it no longer "looks" like a female form, but from previous pictures and writings we know that it did look like one.
Also, there were 5 cities that were destroyed. With Bab edh-Dhra and Numeria "found" where are the other 3? Drs Walter Rast and Thomas Schaub found three other sites, running along a line from Numeria. However, these sites were not explored. (I no longer recall their names.)
I hope this helps.

Cities had stone walls around them. The walls and some of the buildings were made of stone. Plus, some cities had underground plumbing of some sort and underground storage spaces. I don't think anyone turned to salt except Sarah and, no matter if they were burned alive or turned to salt, either way they were organic and there would be no remains left. I saw a History show where the archaeologists think they found 'twin' cities that were destroyed by 'brimstone'/fire from the sky...ironically, the same stuff volcanic ash is made from. There's a pillar of salt sort of shaped like a woman and the thought is some people wandered by, saw the wreckage and made up a story to explain the unexplained.

There is evidence an earthquake along with volcanic activity did happen, and may have destroyed Sodom and Gomorrah. These were not supernatural events, but may have appeared supernatural to man 2,000+ years ago.
This activity is the reason the dead sea is a dead super salinated body of water. It's water inlet/outlet was closed from massive earthquake.

After the sever spiritual ware fare that took place in my life when what I called I was baptized with fire I defiantly believe it to be true. Nobody believes what I saw either or they just don't want to hear it any more anyway. The people on hear say I need a straight jacket or meds but can I blame them if I think about it would I believe it if some one told me. Any way hear is just one thing that happened to me. During the Gulf war the first one that is. When Saddam Husein lit the oil wells on fire I was attacked by a demon on three separate occasions all at night around 3am or so. The third time I was attacked this Demon took its tail and placed it on top of my left hand it sent waves of fire threw my soul. The pain was so sever I could only look straight up to heaven and say Father please help me , these are the words which unconditionally came out of my mouth then the Demon left. True story! The Fifth Trumpet Locust out of Revelations equal scorpion Demons with stings!

Spare me. Sodom and Gomorrah were real cities, however their destruction had nothing to do with Angels and people turning into salt pillars. It was an urban legend in it's day that became myth and now apparently fact.....to some. This story was written by the homophobes of that time and is nothing more than yet another scare tactic for the gullible.
All urban legends have a bit of truth to them. Do you believe in Moth-men too?

I think I saw a documentary once where they did find some evidence, but, that aside, I don't really need to see evidence to know they existed. I believe what the Bible tells me whether archeaologists find evidence, or not. I live by Faith, not sight.

ok, Abraham had 2 SONS. No daughters. One son grow to be via adultery and this displeased God and so punishment grow to be given. the different son, Isaac, grow to be to be presented up as a sacrifice to verify that Abraham grow to be completely obedient to God. No incest isn't a suitable practice. In Lamentations, it tells each and each of the sexual acts that are incorrect. there is an act of incest in a while interior the Bible the place Lot's 2 daughters get him decrease than the impact of alcohol because of the fact there are not the different adult adult males, yet that's not regularly used by utilizing God. there is likewise Judah's daughter-in-regulation who tricks him in to intercourse by utilizing posing as a prostitute in an act of revenge. That wasn't suited the two. this is guy's loose will. God gave guy the flexibility of loose will. loose will equals the flexibility to sin. in case you admit your sins to God and convey regret, he will forgive you. in case you do not, your screwed. you could convey regret many cases. it is the reason Christ died on the go. you could not %. and choose verses from the Bible to make a case. you may desire to take the completed factor, and get your information rapidly, in the previous you additionally could make any assessment.

I believe EVERY word that the Bible says, fully, literally, and completely. If God said it, I believe it! For me.....that's that! I may not be able to explain all that's been said, but if it's in the Bible, I believe it on faith. I figure that if God wants us to know all this, He will tell us when we get to Heaven. If not, then it must not have been that important to know. So I just believe it, according to His Word. That's what being a Christian is all about.....FAITH believing. After all...we have not seen Christ, but we believe it by faith. God bless you. ♥
