Clostridium bacteria that cause infant botulism is in honey. Which means it will cause the infant to produce botulinium toxin, and eventually paralyze the breathing muscles.

I waited until my daughter was a year old to give her honey. Honey can cause botulism in small infants. Honey is a known source of bacterial spores that produce Clostridium botulinum bacteria. When ingested by infants, these bacteria make a toxin that can cause infant botulism, a rare and serious form of food poisoning. For this reason, infants under 12 months of age should never be fed honey.

Because honey can contain small amounts of botulism. It's not enough to hurt an adult, but it can make an infant seriously ill and could be life threatening.

Their system cannot process the complex sugar that the honey is made of yet, it needs to mature into a complete digestive tract with all the internal flora that is required to digest everything that the child will eat, under one month it has not done so yet.

honey contains a botulism spore which is dangerous to an infants immature immune and digestive system. babies cannot fight off the bacteria. they can get very sick and die from it. Once a child reaches age one their immune system is mature enough to handle this.

Has to do with pasteurization--like apple juice and honey, if they are not pasteurized they can be dangerous because of the small amounts of botulism they may contain. Play it safe and don't feed to babies.

Because infants stomaches can't take it in and digest it. There are certain amounts of ingredients that can make the baby sick because the stomach won't know what to do with it.
