hey-- it is totally safe. be nice to yourself and buy a razor that has a little flex and curve to it if you've never shaved before... try something like the Gilette Venus. get some shaving cream or gel, too... it not only makes it more comfortable while you're shaving, but you will end up smoother too.
lift your arm up... put your elbow up by your head. then with the other hand just slather a little shaving cream on there and carefully go either up or down with the razor until all the shaving cream has been removed (that's how you know you've gotten all the spots!) remember: you don't have to push or pull on the razor or dig it into your skin. just let it slide along.. glide along! and the hair will be gone! good luck, honey. bye! p.s. sometimes little nicks happen, but to be honest i don't know if i've ever nicked my armpit... watch out for shaving your knees and ankles-- that's harder! wink... ; )
ALSO: i was just reading some of the other answerers... don't pay attention to all those people telling you "i hope you shave your legs too-- gross" or "you should have started when you were younger" or "hairy teenagers are nasty" or whatever. that is just ridiculous. i have tons of friends who started shaving at different times, depending on when they went through puberty and also when they felt comfortable with it. its also ok NOT to shave. hair is not GROSS, its just a matter or what you want to do-- what makes you comfortable. i like shaving because it makes me feel smooth and clean. but when i was in high school i didn't shave my legs because i wanted to go more natural. maybe that sounds weird or gross to you-- but i just want you to know that you don't have to listen to a bunch of other people telling you what you should and shouldn't do and this is gross and that is appauling, etc. blah blah blah. i think its really brave that you're just asking a question. you're asking for advice about it being safe. don't listen to criticisms of you as an individual OR of you conformity or non-conformity to what others think of as being social "norms". also, i think you'll notice that you might go through phases with it. at one time was really self-conscious about having hair on my legs... i shaved every day and if i wore a skirt to school and i saw strays on my knees i felt like i was going to pass out, etc. haha! but now i still like shaving but if i forget its no big deal. any guy or girl who has never seen leg or armpit hair before or acts like they haven't, is just being ignorant, closed-minded, and ridiculous ! i mean, its really not that shocking that it exists. what's fun is that we get to make choices about what we do with our bodies-- like shaving or wearing makeup or haircuts or whatever. just keep it in perspective that it is EMPOWERING you to do what YOU want... see it as a source of opportunity to feel good and express yourself. some girls think of makeup and shaving and stuff as a trap: stuff we MUST do to be pretty. that's so not true. its fun, and it can provide opportunities to change our looks with our moods or experiment with the possibilities of our bodies, etc. ok, i'll stop babbling now. once again-- good luck!

No problemo!
Make sure you wash up first, it will help the razor slide easier. Use a shave gel or moisturizing body wash and a fresh razor. You are more apt to get nicks and cuts with dull blades. Until you get the feel for things, it may be a good idea to shave your underarms in front of a mirror so you can see what you're doing. Take your time and don't press the razor against your skin, let it glide. Maybe shave in the evening, before bed too. That way if your skin gets irritated, it will have time to recover while you sleep.
Good luck.

well for a 13-year old girl, if you shave your legs then you should probably go ahead and shave your armpit. cuz the more you grow the more hair and that can leave to embarrassment. But if it is were you can hardly see it like you have baby fine then i dont see were you have a problem but if you honestly want to then why not. I my self am 13 and i shave my legs, armpit, and my big toe. (ya it might sound funny but you can shave that too.)

yes... it's ok. jsut take ur time.. use a good razor, like the Venus line from Gillete. NOT DISPOSABLES!
TIP: it's better to shave while ur in the shower in warm water. the warm water helps open out your pores, soften ur skin and helps the razor to work better.
Shave in the direction of the hair growth to avoid nicks and cuts.

Yeah, shaving is the pits! :D It does not in many cases final too long for me, inspite of the undeniable fact that it does help in case you exfoliate your legs in the previous shaving to disclose extra hair and get a closer shave. attempt shaving in a warm bathe fairly of chilly to open up the pores on your legs. consistently lotion up your legs while dry. undecided if that stops swifter advance inspite of the undeniable fact that it does make your legs smoother. Lotion with form of a tan-ish hint of shade or shimmer hides leg hair extra certainly. desire I helped. stable success!
