k today my cat was hacking up the hugest hair ball ive ever seen then she was trying to puke up a worm and it was a tape worm but not all of the worm came out.they say that they can get worms from fleas and my dog has fleas but we r trying to get rid of them. i dont want to get worms. if we get a dewormer or whatever and get rid of the worms in her and we got rid of the fleas on my dog how do we get rid of the fleas in my house. we dont have that much money and i dont wan my animals to be miseral

It's not very often that a cat vomits from tapeworms...are you sure that is what type it was. Usually you see roundworms in the vomit. As far as you getting a tapeworm...that is pretty unusual... Your best bet is to take you cat to the vet...you can get dewormers for tapeworms (praziquantel) at some pet store, but that wont kill roundworms....

Well your pets definitely need a montly flea medicine. I recommend Advantage. But before that, go to the vet and make sure about the worms; see if your vet wants to test her for anything else. Sometimes they like to rule out other problems. Get a dewormer. Get the Advantage (make sure you can apply it w/dewormer). As far as house fleas, I've done this....a few yrs. ago, we've had fleas in the house. We used a carpet spray by Zodiac and sprayed it all over the carpets, one room or one floor, at a time. The only thing abt. that is that you have to get out of there for 2 hrs. after spraying. It works; we've vacuumed up dead fleas soon after!!!! I'm not sure if they still have the same product out there but I'm sure they have things similar. Just remember you and you pets CANNOT be around this for it can make everyone sick.

How do you know it was a tape worm? Either way the only way to get rid of tape worm is with medicine and get rid of those fleas. Get K9 advantix from your vet and advantix for cats from your vet. Should be around $10 for the flea medicine and you can get medicine to treat worms at WalMart, but be sure you get one that treats multiple types of worms including tape worms. You may have to get the worming medicine from the vet for the cat though. I have only seen good worming medicine for dogs. If it is indeed tapeworms, chances are very high you have them too. Go see a doctor.

You can only get tapeworms from eating the fleas, so you are probably OK! Tapeworm medicine is sold over the counter under the name praziquantel. You can also pick it up from your vet. You give as many pills as needed depending on weight. One dose will kill them. Use Advantage on all the pets monthly. Spray the house with a spray like Raid that "kills hatching eggs" but make sure it dries before putting pets back inside. Use every 2 weeks for 3-4 treatments. Make sure to spray under furniture.

You;ll have to get wormer p[ills for both. the worm comes out in segments that's why in the poo it looks like white rice.worms are catchy to each and worms are not from fleas it;s from flea eggs.samething i guess,To get rid of the fleas in the house get some flea bombs at the hardware store and you can get 2 for 8 dollars or so.then you;ll have to get advantage or frontline flea ointment at the vets for the cat&dog ; but you have to get dogs for dogs and cats for cats ;as cats can get poisoned and die from dogs meds,my cats had tape worms also and i am a single disabled mom of 3 ; I had to clean dog poop out of yards spend my medicine money and we did a car wash and we got it all,My neighbor bought a pair of diamond earrings so we could get the pills also.You have to get it done as the worms can kill your pet; as all the food they eat; gores=es to the worms..borrow the money and get a job at the temporary job service as you can;t let your babies suffer as you are their guardian..good luck .

The doctor has pills that will kill the worms. But you need to go to the doctor and give a poop sample. You can poop in a jar and keep in the fridge if you have an appointment. You do need to kill them off.
