I know it doesn't. But what do you think? If I was at my optimal weight I would still be the same size as I was when I was 15years old. I am now 26.

Daisy, you took the thoughts right out of my mind. Your answer will be the best. I'll add something else the BMI calculator does not work at all.

it does calculate a number for everyone, but it does not really take into consideration muscle mass. Muscle weighs more than fat, so it would cause you to weigh more. So technically two men of the same height and weight would have the same BMI, but one could have way more muscle mass and the other have alot more fat.

definetly not. those that have above average levels of muscle mass will always get put into an incorrect category.

the BMI was never desinged to be used as a method of judging health. the sole purpose of the BMI is to address the health risks that are associated with central obesity. those that are not severely overweight or obese need only use the body fat %. which is a far more accurate method as it works for everyone

BMI is a bunch of bunk.

In college when I had a 37 inch waist a looked like a freakin superhero, the BMI index said I was on the border of obese. That was just stupid. I was ripped.

To get a real BMI you have to be submerged in water and it measure your fat by how much you float when you shoot out all your air, theres vans that visit towns 2-4 times a year that will let you do this.
