I think I heard the same story.

the grandmother, her adult daughter and the adult daughter's baby daughter all lived together... yeah, I think there needs to be a man... obviously something is missing in the youngest' life.

It's amazing how important a Dad is to a girl... especially while she's in her teen years.

I think you are a pretty judgemental person. Because the daughter got pregnant at 14 does not necessarily mean the mother was a bad mother at all. Nor does it mean that she would not have gotten pregnant if her father lived with her. There are many reasons besides loose morals why a girl might get pregnant at age 14 (rape, insecurity, being seduced, peer pressure, etc.), and there are many 14 year old girls who have sex for one reason or another.

I do not think you or anyone else, especially anyone who does not know this single mother or her situation... who does not know the daughter... who has little if any knowledge of the situation at all, has any right to judge either the mother or the daughter.

Most girls who grow up without a father in the home turn out pretty darned well. And many who grow up with a father in the home turn out not to be very good people. Judge yourself if you like. But it is not your place to judge anyone else.

First of all, just because a child comes from a 2-parent home does not guarantee that the children will be perfect. Jeffrey Dahmer (serial killer) came from a lovely 2-parent home. His parents were as normal as anyone could ask them to be and he still turned out to be a serial killer.

Second, just because the daughter had a child does not make her a bad person. At least she suffered her consequences and did not kill the child she conceived. She may have made a bad choice to have sex at a young age, to have unprotected sex, but none of these things makes her bad.

Third, lots of perfect 2-parent families, especially more affluent ones, have children that create pregnancies, they just can afford to abort the children so no one finds out. You would be surprised to know how many abortions some of these young childless people have had.

Last, maybe you are a bad person for judging the mother and the daughter. How do you know the child was not a victim of rape? Mind your business.

My sister in law in the Philippines had her first child at the age of 14..but then she has had five more..six girls..and she and my brother in law have many grand children..

Some girls are more woman then a lot of older women..
I don't think it is good for anyone to start at this age..but it is up to the person..no matter what the age..if they are going to be a good mother ..the average situation today is that the Mother raises the children without the help of a man..a lot of single moms...sad..but true...What is happening to the typical American Family?

I think that society forces the world to think that the only correct way to live is an "Ozzie and Harriett" lifestyle...Back in the day girls were married off at 13, 14 and 15 years old. I just all depends on what you belief in but again I believe you are making a judgement in a negative way with out personally knowing the family, the mother and the girl.

She did the best she could. It would be worse for the daughter to grow up in a home where dad gets drunk and beats on her and mom. There are worse things than having a baby. I know, a flippant answer, but having a husband doesn't guarantee a change for the better.

What a man would change that? don't judge people stay out of it. Kids do what they are going to do reguardless of their parents. "Hey mom I'm going to study at Ashleys and bam she goes out with a guy and has sex." How could the mother have stopped her she could have drove her there or called a dozen times but that makes kids rebel even more. How can you judge that do you have children?

Mary was 13 or 14 when she popped out JC. I guess her parents sucked, too.

I think you have no business judging her.

I grew up with a father who was drunk and beat my mother terribly in my presence. MIght have been better off if he wasn't there.

Perhaps we might look at a society that failed to give her the community support-mentors, role models, etc-that she needed. Perhaps we need to have contraception readily available.

Wow, what radical thoughts. Society might be partially responsible and you and me, we are part of society.

are you saying that the mom, and her daughter, are bad people?
They may have made some bad choices, but if she raised a good person she was a good mom.

why are people always freaking out about stuff like that? it wasn't that long ago when men would marry girls as young as 13 or their cousins for that matter. and these young girls would have kids, sometimes a great deal of kids.
