Aloha Desiree,
Good question. I'm not surprised that others chose to quibble with the semantics of your question to avoid addressing your valid point. Mark Twain summed it up best: "The easy confidence with which I know another man's religion is folly teaches me to suspect that my own is also."
I'm forever amused by R&S believers who when I state the inadequacies and illogic of religion - wholeheartedly agree - then proceed to tell me that’s why the Lord Jesus Christ is the light and the way. It’s like uhmm hello? Why is logic and reason acceptable tools to invalidate all religions but yours? The thought doesn’t even dawn on them that if all the other religions are fake, then there’s a good chance theirs is too!
I find every sect, as far as reason will help them, make use of it gladly; and where it fails them, they cry out, it is a matter of faith, and above reason.
— John Locke (1632-1704)
"I contend that we are both atheists. I just believe in one fewer god than you do. When you understand why you dismiss all the other possible gods, you will understand why I dismiss yours."
— Stephen Roberts, (1723-1792)
"Theists think all gods but theirs are false. Atheists simply don't make an exception for the last one."
— Unknown
And remember... "Religions are like farts. Yours is good, but everyone else's stinks." (Picket Fences)

Are you listening to fundamentalists? Because I'm a Christian, but I do not believe (nor do many in my church) that God made the world in 6 days....we would say "Some believe God made the world in 6 days)
If Hindu beliefs are just as legitimate as Christian beliefs, then one is probably not a believer of either.

Well because they believe their beliefs to be true. If you say something is true then obviously thats what you believe. It may sound like someone talking like that is saying they know more than you, but they are just stating their belief. Also, by saying some believes something it may be saying you dont agree with them.
Personally, I believe Hinduism is a nice sounding religion, but quite unrealistic. Christianity has much more logic and factual backing. That is why God created the world in 6 days.

Most people would use the phrase "I believe" when they actually don't know the facts, they use this phrase to say that this is what they believe to be true from there own judgmental point of view ,even tho they may be wrong.i have actually herd of Christians speaking just like u described.most of them would drop the "I believe Phrase" whenever they speak about them selves because they were know for a fact that their way is correct.so there is no need to question themselves.its basically just another case where a word is misused if often happens in todays society, when we say things like "that song is bad" we really mean to say that song is good.this is a clear example.don't be quick to judge Christians alone because it happens with all other religions.

Hindu beliefs are not legitimate as they are not based on God's Word. The Hindu's beliefs come from books written by ordinary men, not men chosen by God and directed what to write by His Spirit.

faith tells you what you pick to hearken to. they're prepared to lie in order that which you would be able to accept as true with them. Christianity on the different hand tells the certainty and certainty hurts a lot, and it is not Christianity this is pushing you away, you're letting devil pull you away, and he's succeeding and that's probably going one in each of the certainty. faith does not have intense ability purely worldly powers. faith delivers you worldly rewards whilst Christianity rewards you with non secular rewards. Your carry to the worldly is what combating you from accepting the certainty. it is yet another certainty. The sweeter the words the extra lie they say. that's what's makes devil the daddy of lies, the final con guy of all time. by utilizing letting you hear what pleases you, you reject the certainty. it is why Christians face extra persecutions unlike religions, do not you think of this is unusual that purely Christianity is the only one that is persecuted a great deal whilst different religions do not even face such persecutions?

I will make the following statement because it is what Jesus said and no other reason. It is found in John chapter 14:6
6Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.
Jesus Himself made Christianity exclusive and the words in the bible are the truth as we accept and it becomes the standard rule in our life, and that according to the bible gives glory to God because it is His truth returned to Him thru our lives. So legitimately no other religion is as legitimate as ours is !!!
The bottom line is Jesus is Lord and Saviour without apology !!!
We all who name the name of Christ should strive to learn the whole council of God. That is a life long challenge !!!

If a person believes something is true, they aren't going to preface it with "I believe..." because they believe it is true. They will say confidently, "It is."
Think of it this way: Would you ever say to your friend, "I believe you are beautiful. I mean, I could be wrong because other people believe differently than me and their beliefs are just as legitimate." Or, would you say with confidence, "You are beautiful. Don't listen to what those other people say."

If you are talking and comparing two religions, then it would make sense to use the phrase "they believe". If you are stating your own beliefs, not in a way that is comparative to another, it is not necessary to begin your sentance with "I believe" or "we believe". It is assumed that since you are the one saying it, that you believe it. It's not necessary to say "I believe".
I think that you're looking for a reason to pick a fight here....

Because when they answer in first person it should be understood that they are stating their beliefs.
Of course it's what they believe, or they would write Christians believe... or Jewish people believe..... it doesn't have to be written, it's not a formal paper.
