If you have seen questions of mine from a few mos. ago, I am deeply annoyed by this. Please tell me I'm not the only one who wants to tell them to stop. Especially when their at my house and all I hear is "Smack, Smack, Smack". Gross by any meaning of the word.

AHHHH! I hate it!!! No, you have not experienced annoying until you have talked on the phone with someone chewing with thier mouth open. I work at a Ticketmaster calling center and sometimes people actually call while they're eating, which is extremely rude to begin with, but some have the freaking nerve to smack thier food like they're cows, and I have to listen to them! god I hate it I literally want to slit thier throats open so they can never chew again! so to answer your question, no you're not the only one that wants to tell them to stop.

My wise mother would simply say ...
"They must have been raised in a barn."

Simple lack of manners. This is a viable excuse for a two year old but beyond that it is something they should have the good sense to be ashamed of.

Unfortunately, there has been a plague of lack of both good sense and shame as of late..

I hear you and I'm in your camp. That is so gross you can't think of anything else when that is going on. This one is just as bad, they talk when their mouth is full and their chewing at the same time, gag me with a spoon!

Yes I think it is waaay gross! They do it because the have no common courtesy. I think the best way is when you see someone doing it, point it out in a serious way. But not funny because they will think its just a joke. LOL i hope we can stop ppl from doing this!

Lack of being taught proper etiquette at home. Families do not eat together like they used to, thus mom can't teach proper table manners. I also remember that we learned a lot of this stuff in home economics in school, the proper way to set a table, the proper way to sit at the table and the proper way to eat.

Some people can't breath through heir nose. So if they eat something like steak that needs more than a couple bites, they need air and open their mouths.
Other people probably just don't think of it and don't know manners.

If it's someone you know personally, talk to them privately so you don't embarass them.

It's a bad habit, the noise is obnoxious, no wants to see gravy dripping from your lips. It's just good manners to keep your mouth closed
