Any business opportunity comes right back to supply and demand.

New Hampshire is foreign to me. But, if there is growth and expansion, with new projects or retrofitting highways and other infrastructure requiring large amounts of concrete or aggragate, then I would say, yes, there is a viable economic opportunity to be had.

If you're going to use rail (and if you have the starting capital to allow it), you're best off buying your own hoppers. Bulk materials are cheap to ship, but leasing cars can bog down your revenues. If you own the equipment, it's tough to get a bad deal.

depending on your exact locations it might be easier to use railcars to carry the gravel to the coast then have a it unloaded in barges, barges are the cheapest bulk transportation and they can fit 14 rail cars in one standard size barge.
