I took my 18 month old daughter to Mc Donalds today.
Coming home i was confronted by a man who demanded cash. I laughed at him which made him upset. I told him that i only took out $10 with me.
Went to macca's.
Then to the sevice station and bought the newspaper.
Now i only have 15c left in my wallet. And if he wanted it he was more then welcome to it. Laughed a little more.
Then he called me a choice name, punched me in the side of the head, then ran off.
He never actually took my 15c. But i'm not sure wheather the police will see this as a crime or not.
What do you think?

Just got off the phone with the local police. I made a report and he told me that i have to go into the police station tomorrow morning.
Thanks for all your answers. I honestly didn't even think that he might do it to someone else. I was just concerned for my daughters welfare.

Yes, it is a crime...albeit a misdeamor...report it, as this person may need help and/or before somebody else gets hurt!
Oh and don't feel as though you'll be a snitch or anything...
Methinks you'll be setting a far better example for your children by becoming an involved dutiful citizen, rather than not.
Do the right thing & Good Luck, eh?!
Oh PS: No need to call 9-1-1 on this; just go down to your local police department in the morning or at your earliest convenience. And the sooner, the better! Peace Out!!

He assaulted you and that's grounds for an arrest. You should still file the complaint because i'm pretty sure it's 'endangering the welfare of a minor' if it happened in front of your daughter. Besides, he could go hurt someone else in the neighborhood with worse results. Let the cops build up a case against him.

Yes, you should contact the police and describle the incident. I would first list the features of the man, what he was wearing, weight, etc... Write down as much as you remember. They will depending on how big your city is take note of it. If he strikes again and harms someone they will have your complaint on file.
I am sorry this happened to you but I am thankful he didn't harm you or your daughter. Be careful out there...next time don't talk but grab your daughter's hand and run to the nearest public bldg.

Are you actually serious? You don't know if it's a crime?
YES ABSOULUTELY IT IS A CRIME TO PUNCH SOMEONE ELSE----ESPECIALLY WHILE IN THE COMMISION OF ANOTHER CRIME.
You should call the police as soon as possible. If not for you then for someone else who could be a victim if this guy keeps roaming the streets.

yes, it's called attempted robbery, and or assault and battery. Maybe the next person he tries to rob won't get off so easy. Call the cops and report it. Try to give as good a description as possible.

It is a crime, the first of which is assault. The next would be attempted robbery. If you have a good description of the subject, call it in.

Yes, assault is a crime. However, I think your bigger concern is whether the police'll find him. Did you get a really good look at him? Did he have any distinguishing features, etc.? Anyway, call the police and see what they can do. :)

Punching you in the head and threatening to take money is assault. Yes, you can call the police for that.
