Call the jail and ask "Do you have (person's name)?

Basically, you would contact the county jail you believe the person to be in. They will let you know if the person is there. Generally, they will be only allowed to receive postal mail (snail mail). The address should be on the Sheriff's Departments' web site, or in the phone book (either on-line or paper).

Hope this helps.
