how long to potty train?

sooo, my daughter is 22 months and she has been going potty on the potty chair for about 2 months now, but only when she wants to, and not even everyday. well, the last few days she has been going on the potty several times a day and today she wore big girl undies and only had 1 accident.
i guess my question is how long do you all think it will be before we can throw out the diapers? and how old are kids ussually when they are tottally done with diapers?

i would start using panties during the day at home now. and reserve diapers for naps car rides and bedtime shes well on her way to finishing good job mom

i had been trying to train my son for a couple months directly after he turned 2. he REFUSED!
A few weeks ago he had a stomach virus and terrible diarreah. After that, he never wanted a poopy diaper again! He is now 28 months old and hasn't worn a diaper to bed in the last 4 days!!!! He doesn't wear them during the day either, but i have some waterproof cloth training pants that he wears in the car. he has NEVER peed in them!

i would hang onto the diapers for a few more months, because toddlers are known to regress sometimes.

My daughter was perfectly trained by 23 months, then we went cross-country for her 2nd birthday and she went back to diapers part time until 2.5. She was totally dry day and night after that!

Every child is different. If they are really ready to be trained it should take about a week. If they are not it will take much longer. Girls are usually ready much sooner than boys. I work with 2 yr olds at a preschool and by time the girls are 3 they are all trained.
Your daughter is showing good progress wearing panties, so I would say you can throw out diapers in about a week, just keep her in the panties, and praise her.

i would let her wear panties during the day and pull ups at night. Most kids start potty training at 2. She will still have accidents sometimes but don't stop beliveing in her.
