My son has this now. He was prescribed Prednisone for his asthma and developed this in his 20's. It's a very dangerous disease and can lead to death. He's lucky to still be alive. It can cause psychotic episodes, Thin skin with purplish marks all over their body. Their faces become moon like.
It's not fun, He only wanted to breathe, unfortunately his doc over prescribed it and he ended up in ICU.
The person with it must be very careful not to use anything with a sone in the name, cortisone, prednisone etc. even with a cream thing that you buy at the store.
Good luck.

I hope you don't have this disease! This is what I found:

Cushing's syndrome is a condition that occurs when your body is exposed to high levels of the hormone cortisol for a prolonged period of time. Sometimes called hypercortisolism, Cushing's syndrome can occur when your adrenal glands, located above your kidneys, make too much cortisol. It may also develop if you're taking high doses of cortisol-like medications (corticosteroids) for a prolonged period.

Too much cortisol can produce some of the hallmark signs of Cushing's syndrome — a fatty hump between your shoulders, a rounded face, and pink or purple stretch marks on your skin. It can also result in high blood pressure, bone loss and, on occasion, diabetes.

The most common cause of Cushing's syndrome is the use of oral corticosteroid medication. By contrast, it's rare for the cause to be excess cortisol production by your body. The syndrome is named after Harvey Cushing, an American surgeon who first identified the condition.

Treatments for Cushing's syndrome are designed to return your body's cortisol production to normal. By normalizing or even markedly lowering cortisol levels, you'll experience noticeable improvements in your signs and symptoms. Left untreated, however, Cushing's syndrome can eventually lead to death.

Yes. Cushing's is a disease where the pituitary gland orders the excessive production and excretion of glucocorticosteroids from the adrenal glands (the adrenal medullary I believe). Some of the symptoms include excessively masculine traits. Examples could include chest and facial hair growth, thin hair, weight loss, testicular atrophy in males, amenorrhea in women, deepening voice, enlarging skeletal musculature.

I am sorry, I am not aware of the current standard of treatment for cushing's or if there is a treatment.

Cushing syndrome is caused by prolonged exposure to elevated levels of either endogenous glucocorticoids or exogenous glucocorticoids - like prednisone.

Individuals with Cushing syndrome can develop moon facies, facial plethora, supraclavicular fat pads, buffalo hump, truncal obesity, and purple striae.

Individuals often complain of proximal muscle weakness, easy bruising, weight gain, hirsutism, and, in children, growth retardation. Hypertension, osteopenia, diabetes mellitus, and impaired immune function may occur.

An endocrinologist is the correct Dr to diagnose and treat this disease.

Cushing's syndrome is a condition in which your body has too much of the hormone cortisol or other glucocorticoid hormones. This may be because your body is producing too much of it or you may be taking these hormones as medications (like prednisone).
