Knowing that they are apart of you and that you will live on through them. The fact that a parent can model a young child to do better than we did.

The most rewarding part of being a parent to me is waking up in the morning with my beautiful baby boy looking into my eyes with his big gummy grin, and just knowing from that moment on my day will be blessed. I had my first two children at a young age, and I got myself mixed-up into the wrong crowd and got myself into some bad situations, so at that time I decided that I should give guardianship to my mother, which I am not proud of but at that time it was the right decision for my kids and I. I was in a real bad relationship, and couldn't give my kids the life they deserve. Today my oldest two children Scoty 8, and Sydney 7, still live with my mother, but I have a wonderful relationship with them and see them on a regular basis. (This is hard for me to be open about because I don't want anyone to judge me). Since this bad time in my life I have met a wonderful man, got my life together, and had a beautiful baby boy Lorenzo- 6 months old. I missed so much with my first two children, I do not take a second for granted with my baby. It is such a gift being a mommy. One the most rewarding parts about having Lorenzo is the bond him and I share from breastfeeding him, which I didn't have the experience of doing the first two times. Everyday is a reward for me. I am so thankful that I got a second chance at being a mommy, and a great one at that.

Wow . . . deep question! And the answers are going to differ, depending on how old the kids are! :-) As a parent of teenagers -- a HS junior and an upcoming college freshman -- I think the most rewarding part is seeing them finally start to assimilate everything that's been thrown at them all their lives and begin to make good decisions, be able to think and reason thoughtfully and with logic (even if I don't always agree with them), and knowing that you're sending young people out into the world who are loving, bright, curious, not afraid of work, and have a chance to make a difference.

Being awakened by your children at 2:00 a.m. instead of their mother, because you have always been the one to check in on them at night so mother could sleep.

Having your children come to you and voluntarily tell you when they have done something you have asked them not to.

Seeing the concentration, the sparkle in the eye, and happiness in the voice of a child singing while accompanying themselves on the piano after ten years of "encouragement" to stick with the lessons and practice.

Being able to discuss with your teenager a recent drop in their grades without it blowing up into a tears and shouting.

Taking the car keys away from the same teenager peacefully because they are freely willing to submit to the conditions and because they recognize they need to earn driving privileges.

Listening to your child give a talk about love and truth and forgiveness and knowing that they understand and believe what they are saying.

Greeting your daughter each morning with, "Hello, Doodle!" and hearing her respond, "Hello, Daddle!"

Watching and talking basketball with you son.

Sitting here thinking about this question at 1:30 a.m. and smiling, knowing it will be a looooong night if I really wrote everything in my heart.

Thanks. You deserve an award for best question!

Just knowing that I helped create a human being is so special. I love the snuggle time, the butterfly kisses, the eskimo kisses, the tickle times. I love it when my kids come up to me and hug me for no apparent reason. Even my 11 year old son does this! What a life! I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world!

When you see them finally succeed at a goal they've been struggling to achieve for a long time. Seeing their face light up because they've reached success is the most rewarding thing witness as a parent.

When your children look at you filled w/ such love for you and you know this is why you were put here on this earth. For those true parents out there, having children makes you want to change and be a better person.

viewing the world through their eyes. I had forgotten how wonderful life could be if you just looked with the eyes of a child. Everything is so magical and wonderous and new. Even when they are trying your patience the fact that they are testing their boundaries is amazing.

You get to watch your children grow, have someone who will always love you. Something to share with your partner (hopefully husband or wife) and it's just fun and exciting and cool to watch something you produce to live and breath. It's really a beautiful thing.
