No! Neil's band is Crazy Horse! It was a slam on neil by Lynyrd Skynyrd and the singer was Ronnie VanZandt!!!

Ronnie later said, they were all huge Neil Young fans, they weren't mad at Neil at all.

This is the way I would explain they lyrics: It was a nerve for a Canadian such as Neil to have so much to say about the south, they did have some right to have a strong opinion about Neils' songs, Alabama and Southern Man.

Not even close. Young slammed "southern man" as being all bigoted at an Alabama concert. The concert ended in a riot. Lynyrd Skynyrd, who was all about being southern, sang, in Sweet Home Alabama", "Hope Neil Young will remember, southern man don't need him around anyhow."

I may be off a little on that, but it's real close. Neil Young wasn't in Lynyrd Skynyrd (and it's spelled with "y"s) Check it out on their albums and website.

Ronnie Van Zant was the vocalist on Sweet Home Alabama

No, Neil Young was never a member of Lynrd Skynrd. The singer of Sweet Home Alabama was Ronnie Van Zant, who died when the plane carrying the band crashed.

No, they were singing about him because Lynyrd Skynyrd was feuding with Neil. Neil Young put out Southern Man as a retort.
