If the acne is appearing on the upper part of your back it may be your hair. Don't panic. When in the shower make sure you move your hair so you can clean the upper back better. As for you whole back (top to bottom), use non-greasy, non-comedogenic (won't clog pores), fragrant free lotion (like Lubriderm. If you need sunblock - Coppertone sport is best) use after your showers. It should help it out. Also, it could also be a food allergies. Milk and wheat (and to much sugar) can cause breakouts, so be moderate or none at all. And remember to relax, stress can cause a number of problems such as acne. Hope this helps and remember don't scratch. Scratching anything will spread and can cause infections and sometimes scaring.

i answered this question for somebody else already. So im gonna copy and paste it to tell you the same thing:
to clear bacne i read somewhere that when you're in the shower you have to be sure to clena your back thoroughly with soap and then rinse it off really well. Be careful of letting your shampoo and conditioner get onto your back because you'll have to rinse that off really well too. It's okay to let your hair dry naturally after a shower but it's bad to keep the back of your shirt all soaked with water, or sweat when you play outside. Also, wear loose-fitting, thin shirts to bed so your skin can breath. You can try putting clearasil or some other acne remover on your back but it's kinda hard so maybe get someone to help if they dont mind.

I agree with other posters in suggesting a dermatologist assessment. I went to see one for annoying facial acne, not seriously bad just annoying, and was surprised how effective a few tiny pills are. The prescriptions I take are not much more expensive than over the counter solutions, and are WAY more effective. See what your insurance covers, and ask your medical center if you need a doctor's reference to see a dermatologist. Get your assessment and you'll get access to the good acne products, and not that over-priced oxy-neutra-clearasil-junk. Good luck.

first of all- go to a dermatologist. they can best advice you on what you should use. if you can't do that there is a product from neutrogena that is specifically for use on your body. it's a shower gel and it contains 2% salalyc acid. it's completely safe to use on a daily basis- BUT, if you use this your skin may dry out in which case, use a good moisturizer.
backne is fairly common so you shouldn't worry about it too much about it.

The thing that worked best for me was tanning. The bacteria that causes acne is killed by UV light (like a lot of other bacteria) and a few sessions in a tanning salon will help tremendously.

Try some proactive. It really works. It may be a little expensive but it will clear up your acne.

Try Neutrogena's body wash- I've heard that it works. Go to drugstore.com, they've got more product names and user reviews.
Whatever you do, DONT scratch or pick at them. They will go away once treated.
