Scarcity will always be a factor. It is needed in for a flourishing economy. But, I understand the meaning behind your question.

Poverty is relative and about resources. By relative, I mean relative to the situation/surroundings. There are different types of poverty. Absolute Poverty ~ like we see in third world countries. Generational Poverty ~ people who live impoverish for more than 2-3 generations. The mis-nomer is that these people are lazy...in fact, they really know no better...they think this is what life is about. Then there is Situational Poverty ~ this type of poverty is caused by an event...death, illness, divorce, lost job, disaster. These people are able to rise out of their circumstance because they have other resources but lack financially.

Dr. Ruby Payne, the nations leading expert on poverty says. "For a person to move out of poverty they must be willing to educate themselves and give up certain relationships, if only for a short time."

So to answer you question...education, and increased resources are what it is going to take to stop world hunger and poverty. With some elbow grease and a lot of compassion I believe it can be done. I work everyday for that goal.

There's more than enough food in the world to feed everyone. We have to realize that the problem is distribution. We have to make sure everybody, who isn't already employed and paid enough to support themselves, has access to education, job training, and job placement. The best way to do this is with student loans. Nobody would choose to be poor and hungry if they could get educated and employed.

The only way that might happen is to control population growth. The most humane way would be for people to stop doing what they do so well; have children, even when they cannot afford to.
