If the president can come on tv and reach every home with a tv set in america, why does it take so long to change laws that cause outrage or hinderances. please don't gripe, but for instance, the legalization of marajuana. i smoke cigarettes and want to smoke pot but i can't because it is illegal. i believe it is quiet common and accepted though even by law enforcement. If you don't know, a town in my state just made it less of a crime to possess. also medical marajuana.

I have read on here more than once that many Americans feel that they are a free country because of their right to own arms ...lol I don't agree that is what makes a free country . America is not even in the top country that they all brag about where people want to live .

Freedom of religion, speech, etc..but now you can be charged for spanking a kid (which I don't do anything just because...), the GOVT is trying to tell parents and people what to do now...a lot of liberties are being taken away lately. I still believe that we are a Democracy but I think we are traveling down a road of less freedoms...whcih may or may not be an over zealous GOVT. More than likely, it's the crazies in this world that are causing it.

America grows food and provides housing for illegal immigrants. In this aspect it is a free stage for them to breed more of their own kind. Unfortunately, the political aspect of this situation is volatile enough for our government to take no action and my voice will never be heard.

To a certain degree. The Army says that my husband is fighting for our freedom. Yet what do you consider free. I own my house , I pay my water bill .... yet I am only "allowed" to use outdoor water on Monday and Wednesday from midnight until 10am WTF ??? I tried to take a bucket of water from inside to water my plants outside and they said that I was going to get a ticket because I violated a water restriction. Apparently as soon as water crosses my doorstep it's considered "outdoor" water. What the heck is this world coming to ??? Just an example :)

probably more than most countries......religious freedom...you can practice whatever you want here....the pilgrims heard about this about 400 years ago and decided to make the trip.
but I think that a lot of people's opinions aren't heard because they have no outlet to express them and if the outlet doesn't agree with it, it won't be expressed.....so, yes, there is freedom....but especially if you are in a position of power and influence.

I would say it is freer than most. But with freedom comes responsibility, and there I think Americans are falling down on the job. Every one of us is responsible for the state of the union, and until we realize that, more and more of our personal freedoms are going to drown in bureaucracy.

Yes.... Are you told how efficient a car you can drive?
Do you see the government telling churches how to worship?
See the illegal immigrants marching in the US? They can't assemble in Mexico.
Expansions of voting rights, civil rights, education, public health, scientific knowledge, and protections from fear and want

We are able to go to church and not be shot for doing so, we are able to choose the job, career we want and we are free to have as many children as we want without being fined, we are able to speak freely as long as it does not cause harm to someone else, we are able to do many things that we take for granted every day. And these freedoms were gained by people that serve our country and people that founded our country, values, and people whose voices were heard.
