Yes I have put many miles on tandems and ridden a few Tridems (three seaters) also.

Yes they are safe and a lot of fun as well. The thing I like the most about riding one is that you don't need to wait for the weakest rider to catch up. This avoids a lot of frustration.

I ride mostly with my wife. I have also ridden with some visually impaired. These guys have no fear. I guess that it has something to do with not seeing the dangers. They really enjoy the wind in the face.

A tandem is quite fast along the flats and down hill but is only a touch faster than the weaker rider uphill.

Try it you will probably like it too.

I think it's safe if the captain, the person in front, is an experienced rider that knows how to change the gears efficiently and stay safe in traffic otherwise I would say it's a risky proposition. I don't think crashing would be a probem. That part of it would probably be fun to work out. The stoker, the person in the back, just has to be willing to work a little.

They are called "Tandems", I think you need to learn how to spell, use grammar and English in general.
I ride a tandem on a regular basis. If you are capable of riding a bike, tandem is not a problem.
Just like difference between driving a car and a large truck. Slower to accelerate, stop and turn. Also much faster on flat roads though.
