Do you think it's odd how some Christians feel like mentioning Hell when they find out that you are an atheist?

I know not all Christians are like this, but they would never do that if you were a Hindu, a Muslim, or a Jew. According to what alot of Christians believe you will go to Hell forever if you are not a Christian, yet they would never warn someone about Hell if you were a Hindu or a Muslim. It's like there is a double standard for how some people treat atheists.

This actually happened to my sister and I know that the lady that mentioned this was only doing it in an effort to help her, but I can't help but be struck at how this wasn't because she wasn't a Christian per se, it was specifically because she didn't believe in any type of a god.

Ya wanna hear a good one? I was in the hospital just about to have an operation - which had some risks. Right before they wheeled me into the operating room, a Catholic priest came into my room and asked me if I wanted to do a confession, or if I wanted a some kind of mini-service; it's like she had a menu of things. Anyway, I said, 'No thanks, that won't be necessary'. Then she said she was going to pray for me. I told her I was a Taoist - I didn't believe in prayer because there was no god to pray to.
She looked on my chart and read my wife's name and started praying - something like, 'All good things to him and his wife, Sue. Yada, yada, yada....' I said I don't believe in what she was doing, but I would take all the positive energy I could find. Wow, she really laid it on thick. She was praying out loud for me and my wife and my family, even the doctor and the waiting nurses were starting to get a little put off. They heard what I had told her and I'm sure they were wondering what she was doing. Then at the end of her praying, she takes out this vial of oil, dips her finger in it and starts making a cross sign on my forehead. It was all I could do not to bust out laughing, I figured the best way to dismantle the situation was by using the Taoist mantra - by doing nothing.

There is no tolerance for people who don`t follow the herd .
You get used to the terrible comments and awful behavior of the god believers and realize that reality is a Threat to them .
It means they won`t live forever after they`re dead .They are not really as nice as they think they are .

They figure that if they've been scared enough to believe in an imaginary hell, then you should be too. They probably think they are actually trying to help you by spreading ancient myth and superstition to yet another naive generation.

I wonder if they ever really think how horrible the idea of hell is. I can't imagine anyone, even a truly evil person, dreaming up something like that. I think the reason they go after us with it is because we scare them to death.

Yeah, they mostly just want us to believe in Hell, doesn't matter which. Their arguments are solely based on the idea that if you don't follow their religion.. You'll go to Hell. Some of them just don't understand: we're not afraid of going to Hell, because it doesn't exist.

Christians like hell. They don't want to GO there, they just want people who don't believe and think like they do to go there, and they delight no end in telling us we're going there, and that we'll burn for all eternity in the lake of fire...

And yet, they say god loves everybody.

I think religious people get scared when they find other people don't need it in thier lives. It makes them question thier own faith. Its a defense mech for them to revert to saying "you are going to hell". Its kinda like a kid saying "if you don't beleive in santa clause you wont get anything for Christmas".

I told a Jehova's Witness that I don't believe in God.

He started yelling at me that God was gonna kill me.
