But how can we believe that He had no beginning while everything other than Him had a beginning?

Actually, it's quite logical to assume that everything would HAVE to originate from a source which, itself, has NO source. The actual zero-point.

The assumption that everything must have a beginning is based on the inaccurate belief that time is linear and infinite. It is neither. Time has a beginning and an end, and it exists ONLY within the bounds of the PHYSICAL universe, as opposed to the SPIRITUAL universe, wherein Heaven and Hell reside.

More specifically, God has time in his hands because he created it.

Because if he had a beginning then that would imply he had an end, which is wrong because what would there be, just nothing which has no order. God is the Order that has always been there. Also, the mathermatical concept of infinity comes form somewhere. God is infinite and the rest is not. He has always been there self-subsisting and eternal. We as humans have a limited brain and intellect no matter how intelligent we think we are and can never comprehend to the level to understand God's infinite and eternal omnipresence.
He is the Oneness of Being that has always existed and always will.

You know, it takes a special idiot to believe in special pleading.

What is 'special' about god that means that he is exempt from having to have a beginning?

Other than you made this up. (Or more likely copied and pasted it.)

Edit:
Found it:

At the bottom of the page.

I love the answer:

Wilson: You have made the matter clear. We have to believe in God. But how can we believe that He had no beginning while everything other than Him had a beginning?

Chirri: The Creator of the universe cannot be preceded by non-existence; otherwise, He would need another god to create Him; and that god, if he is preceded by non-existence, would need another god and so on. Thus, we would have an endless chain of gods without reaching a causeless cause to be the source of the existence of the universe. Then we have to deny the existence of the universe. We would also have to deny ourselves because we are a part of the universe.

In other words special pleading applies to god because without it god would not exist.

That has to be the weakest argument for special pleading I have ever seen.

That is the question that goes back before the holy Qoran and the Bible. The answer lies in science. Man is able to prove that this earth that we live on was inhabited by animals that have been extinct for millions of years. As belivers in a faith we must know that two thousand years against millions of years is nothing. my point is this. if we dont believe that there is a higher power, and He is the beginning and the end, we are lost. We need Faith. lol

It is possible that God had a beginning, evidence says that the God of scripture was a young God with tantrums and acts of revenge, however when God made a son, he changed. Same as we do which holds up to scriptures assertation that we are created in its image, we have his traits until we age and learn that violence isn't any kind of answer.

Who says you have to believe in God? But if we take that as a premise, what's so hard about believing that He had no beginning? The term "beginning" implies a linear time sequence. If you cannot imagine getting beyond time as a linear progression in one direction (vector, for the mathematical-minded), try reading some good science fiction and see if you can't stretch your imagination.

yes, when the president makes government decisions based on the assertion that his religion is correct, and we as taxpayers must fund those decisions, then we are forced to believe in god. The rest of your Q is part of a circular logic theorization irrelevent of personal belief or scientific understanding and will never be reconciled unless someone invents a time machine. good luck with that, as time exists just as much as god - only in the human mind!

if he had a beginning then he would have had to have been created then we would have to know who created God?

This is indeed a mystery that, if we come to the truth that there is a creator, we must trust that the knowledge is just bigger than we can understand now.

If we understood all things, then we would be tempted to think we were gods as well. Enough people already do.

Because there was nothing but God in the beginning. God created everything else.
