I'm all for humor and believe it is God created because we need it. Laughing at ourselves is probably the best humor we can have.
I know God has a sense of humor. Why else would he let more hair grow on my back, ears, eyebrows and nose than on my head?

Yes....we need that humor...and you're right some people don't see it.....I've seen Father K as a good example of answering a stupid question with a humorous answer instead of stooping to the level of the question.
Q. What do they call pastors in Germany?
A. German Shepherds.
Q. Who was the greatest financier in the Bible?
A. Noah. He was floating his stock while everyone else was in
liquidation.
Q. Who was the greatest female financier in the Bible?
A. Pharaoh's daughter. She went down to the bank of the Nile
and drew out a little prophet.
Q. What kind of motor vehicles are in the Bible?
A. Jehovah drove Adam and Eve out of the Garden in a Fury.
David's Triumph was heard throughout the land. Also, probably a Honda,
because the apostles were all in one Accord.
Q. Who was the greatest comedian in the Bible?
A. Samson. He brought the house down.
Q. What excuse did Adam give to his children as to why he no
longer lived in Eden?
A. Your mother ate us out of house and home.

A. Moses. He broke all 10 commandments at once.

This place is getting less tolerant to humor in the recent days. A great number of good people that make me smile are deleted or frustrated. One of the reason to quit the Catholic Church was that the congregation works like a dead procession. No laughs, your are guilty, a Father that is not a father explaining the parent wood to the real parents, etc. Is a complete tragedy. For some reason the funny things in this religious world are under the category of sins.
I believe Philosophy will be my principal place on YA.
Peace to you Ramjet.

You really need to listen to Lewis Black on this one . . . . this was his commentary post-9/11.
"Patriotism is important. And religion is vital. I've watched a lot of my friends function because of their faith. Without a sense of humor, religion and patriotism can get crazy. Religion and patriotism need humor. Or people go nuts. We see that in our enemy. That's what happened to the Taliban. That's what Al-Qaeda are all about. These are people with no sense of humor. That's the bottom line. You can't argue with the fact that they have a religion, and they have a faith. And they certainly believe in a certain ideal. It may be completely nuts, but they believe in it. You know they don't have a sense of humor when someone can actually stand up in a room and go, "you know, if you commit suicide for Allah, when you die, you will immediately be met in heaven by 70 virgins. And that nobody in the room just goes, "bwahahahaha! Son of a b*tch that was great!" Because, you know, it's an extraordinary amount of faith to believe that when you die, you're going to meet 70 virgins in heaven. I couldn't even conceive of that . . . . when I haven't met one on earth!"
I was only going to quote a portion of it, but eh, the whole thing was great. It's much better if you listen to it though . . ..

Absolutely....speaking for Christians in particular,we should be happy people and should let our light shine....our testimonies have a dark shadow cast on them if we walk around too serious and gloomy. Of course we are warned about inconvenient jesting,or joking that would be incompatible with holiness(I have to watch myself on this one).
.....once again "Laughter is like a good medicine"
It may be hard for some to picture the Savior of Mankind,Jesus...laughing with the disciples and others that he came into contact with.....but my money is on the fact that he did.....How can one be full of joy and not smile or laugh....and desire to share with others?
I often mix humor with my answers but at the same time,I will not shrink back down on the message of the Gospel and that Jesus is the only way to eternal life......

Bonsai took the words form my mouth. Let me rephrase that; he took them from the word. I believe that Jesus had many a good laugh with His followers. The gloom and doom picture of God that some have, has to be totally off track. He created us in his image and all of the emotions that we have are, in their pure state, a reflection of our Creator. When a baby is born, the first thing they do is cry, but what earthly parent doesn't start working their butt off to get that first smile, let alone the first laugh? We will make a fool of ourselves for a crooked grin. I think Jesus loves us enough to want us to enjoy the good medicine of laughter.

yes, of course. I think that was kind of a bad thing, but, I noticed that new people to this site (prolly me too when I first started) are unaware that other people have more facets to their character than just the religious thing. I don't mean really that they are unaware but, they just don't realize that you are free to be yourself here as Jesus knows you and I think Jesus knows you have a sense of humor and most of the time (I'm sure occasionally he thinks you bomb on a joke) he will laugh with you.

why can't we show humor in all things we do and believe ? God created it and he probably has the best sense of humor in the universe . If it is not meant maliciously , then why not ?
I think a lot Christians need Satan in their life to calm down and get off their " holier than thou " high horse .
Now that's funny . ( well ,,, probably not .. )

Well, God does have a sense of humor... I would think that he would want us to lead a humourous and Godly life. My mother and I make up religious jokes all the time!

i totally agree with bonsai others that agree
laughter IS the best medicince! let me tell you, it makes a big difference when you are in hospital! without laughter or a smilem, you feel dead and empty inside.
humour is wonderful thing, but we have to be careful not to make fun or insult others beliefs or make fun of our own beliefs!
God bless!
thanks for all the fun! glad we have you ramjet! you make me smile!
