Yes, I always wonder why Jesus was so scared as he was about to be killed, I mean he could speak directly to God and knew he'd be out of his misery soon so what was the big deal? And yet he was so scared he was sweating blood?

Sin is NEVER a blessing and, yes, those who have confessed Jesus as their savior and have repented of their sins should look forward to the day when they can be fully with Him.
As for being afraid to die, He is fully divine and fully human. It was His human nature that feared death, not the divine. He saw that he would be falsely accused, His friends would abandon Him, He would be stripped and tortured nearly to the point of death, beaten afterward and then nailed to a cross where He would hang for hours until He died. He saw that many people, then and in all the years to come, would not accept His sacrifice for their sins and would perish for eternity. That would scare anyone.
His divine side was not afraid at all for He knew the outcome. He had the opportunity to run and hide or snap His fingers and kill them all, but He didn't. He chose to wait for His captors and peacefully go with them. He calmly stood there while they lied about Him and smacked Him around. He willingly walked to the torture chamber and took the beatings. Then He, without argument or question, took the Cross handed to Him and dragged it up the hill where He allowed them to strip Him and nail Him. That doesn't sound like He was afraid to me.
You might want to re-read the Passion of Christ in the New Testamant again....this time with a more open mind.

In answer to Heidi, Jesus was no fool. He knew there was a LOT of pain coming his way and just as any sane person, he would rather avoid it if possible. He had his priorities straight and wanted to honor his Father above all and he loved humankind so he went ahead.
Heaven was not for man until Jesus came. This was the first time it was opened for man after the last Passover and first Lord's Evening Meal. Prior to this, all the prophets only hoped for resurrection to earth. It is still the destination for most of us.
Sometimes the temptation is wanting to die now to get away from all the pain we suffer, especially with illness. This would be like rejecting a gift from God. "Sorry God, but I just don't like your gift. Take it back or I'll drop it here."
We don't fear it when it comes. Most anyone at that point will try to hang on for as long as possible.

If you read the bible it will tell you that when Jesus returns all who are living will be taken up to be with Him and all who are already in heaven and we will all be given new bodies, pretty cool huh. And the peace that will be in heaven will make dying seem like a good thing. But we cannot take our own lives as that would be murder-no time to repent of murder if you are dead-also Jesus wasnt scared in the garden when He was sweating blood, He was realizing the pain He was about to suffer and asking God the Father if there was any way He could achieve His mission without all the humanly suffering. Kinda gets you right in the heart when you realize how much He went through for us..True love is to die for your friends, and Jesus calls us His friends.. Can't wait to meet Him face to face......
