I'm 13 and of average size for my age. If I run half marathons and do a lot of long distance running, how will this effect my body? Please answer this in detail. I've heard from some people that it hurts speed. Slows me down in shorter distances like the mile run. I've also heard running fast for long distances hurts knees......

I did the same thing, and I'm going to say don't do it regularly. Give yourself several years before you make a habit out of it. And yes, you will slow down if you don't have the right balance of speed work and distance.

Frankly, I think 13 is too young to do 13 miles with any regularity. Yes, you will lose speed in the shorter distances because you won't be doing speed work. Yes, it can damage your knees even if you begin running as an adult.

Good Luck at whatever you do...

this is healthful. merely attempt to have stable variety, as in land gently on your feet and don't permit your heels take the brunt of the result (in certainty, i think of it fairly is ultimate to land on balls of your feet, yet with the feet purely fairly pointing down as unfavourable to finished-on tiptoeing). in case you have some flat, non-cushiony footwear then run in those. additionally stay hydrated of direction.
