Unreasonable speeding - I don't mean doing 73 in a 65 zone, I mean doing in excess of 100 mph - becomes a crime, not because of the speeding, but because of the associated charge of driving to endanger.

Speeding is a minor misdemeanor traffic offense.
Unless you are going so far over the speed limit where it can be considered reckless operation.

I think that minor speeding ticket in most states is something that vanishes from your driving record after a few years of no more speeding.
Different story if it is a construction zone with orange lights flashing ... you supposed to be doing like 30 mph ... but you really doing 70.
