Do you really take offense when someone yells at you?
I wouldn't say caps offend me, however, I completely agree with someone above who said that they assume the person is either too ignorant to know how to turn off the caps lock button, or they're yelling. It's very annoying to have to read something that's typed in all caps, so when that's the case, I usually just don't bother reading it.

LOL
Well that depends.
All caps is often read as a reprimand. When I get annoyed and the only means of communicating is through writing/typing, the good 'ol ALL CAPS is a real attention grabber. When I receive a notice with all caps I may interpret it as a negative mood from the sender.
Other times all caps could simply be an attention grabbing like: WARNING! CAUTION! PLEASE REPLY! etc. These are examples of innocent ones

It bugs me because I am not used to reading in caps. It is not normal nor common for people to write in caps therefore reading something typed in caps is annoying.

It is nice that you are not personally offended, however the commonly known etiquette among the internet is that it is very rude to do so.
Not only does it express the equivalent of yelling at others, but it also shows the typist to be rather lazy.
Oh how I wish self pride would become en vogue to these people!

I honestly don't even bother to read anything if people can't be bothered to turn off caps lock. To me it's the equivilent of screaming, which I won't acknowledge either. It's not really rude, it's just sort of impolite and childish to do.

Darlin , are you serious? Are you telling me that some folks consider this rude? Boy, some people just have too much time on their hands!! I use caps alot because it makes it easier to read for the person receiving the e-mail, or whatever. If it bugs some people/if they consider it rude, well-----that's their opinion! I'm entitled to mine, and whenever the mood strikes me.........I'll use all caps!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If it is used improperly, it can be offensive.
For example if I answered your question by saying,
" Yes, I find it rude."
That reads like it is a calm, rational answer. But if I answered by typing
"YES I think it is RUDE....you might read that differently.
Caps should be used only when emphasis is needed. Not as part of normal responses.
