She has gotten somewhat wider but not enough to make me think she was pregnant...but today I noticed her nipples were reddish and swollen. I know this sounds kinda gross but I wanted to see if milk would come out if I pinched them and a whitish sticky substance came out of all of them...?!? Seriously she isnt real wide and her nipples/boobs are HUGE like I have seen other doggy moms. Any thoughts?!?

Yes there is a neighbor dog that is not nuetered...and....she ran off once. Rebellious teens, I swear.

She is a small dog (American Bulldog or Pit Bull....can't tell) and at the time of heat she was only 8ish months old.

No it was definitely around March 20th that she started with the pinkish spotting. Because it happened while we were throwing a birthday party for my brother!!!

Ok so I checked my calendar again and I think it was about 2-3 weeks after the bleeding that I caught the neighbor dog mounting her and shortly later ran off (for those concerned, I learned that week that my toddler learned to open doors and he let her out...yikes.) Anyway, I also noticed that after she was mounted and ran off she wasnt interested in trying to run off to meet up with the neighbor dog.
A few weeks later I did notice that her nipples were a big larger and her breast looked swollen. After a month or more they never changed size so I just passed it off as normal.
Now that I think about it there are several spots dug around my yard....she has never dug before. And I have caught her digging at the blankets on my bed. Hmmm...ALSO I have noticed her licking and laying next to my 8 month old son. Today is when I noticed the reddish nipples and they are definitely larger in size. her boobs don't seem any fuller though. Oh and I can sqeeze whitish stuff from them.

Yes she could be. Was she exposed to any males? I suggest taking her to a vet to confirm or eliminate the possibility. If she isn't get her spayed ASAP. A young female won't always show as obviously as an older female. She could also be carrying just one pup, which is very often a problem in delivery.
Added: Remember folks, they gestate for ~63 days from impregnation, which won't occur until 2-3 weekes into the heat cycle.

If it was really the end of March the timing isn't right. Get out your calendar & try to remember more exactly when she went into heat. Dogs' gestational period is 9 weeks. If she got pregnant at the end of March, she would have had puppies already, 3 or 4 weeks ago. If you meant end of April, then yes, she is most likely pregnant and about to give birth. She might not get very big, especially if the litter is small and/or it is a first litter.

I do know when they go into heat there nips and "muff" do get swollen...lol. And for the milk, I had a dog at one time that did this because she thought she was a mom to a stuffed animal. I know this sounds funny but it is true, females will do this with stuffed animals and younger animals in the home that they are close to. Unless you have a male around I wouldn't worry about it.

Well, they are pregnant for about 63 days and she went into heat 3 months ago. She could be going through a false pregnancy. In that case, symptoms will go away on their own. An xray at the vets will tell you for sure if you need to know.

According to the date of heat, she will be almost due if pregnant; and sometimes female dogs doesn't put on weight when pregnant, specially for small breeds or when they had only one sexual contact with a male so not all the ovules where fecundated and therefore she will have very few puppies.(That happened to my doggy once). By the way, if it happened that she is not pregnant, pay attention to the mamary secretion, breast cancer and other diseases could be fatal for female dogs.

I'm so sorry to hear about this. Please get your dog fixed after she has the babies and promise me you will find a forever home for every baby. Do not let any of the puppies go to the pound. Every day thousands of animals are put to sleep because there are not enough homes for them to go to. Do not let your dog run free ever. Go to the myspace page for Max Dassell and watch the video. You will understand my concern.

No, she's not pregnant!
If she was, she would have deliver the pups long ago.
You really need to get her checked out by a vet, as I had a rescue dog once that had the same symptoms as your, and it ended up being Pyometra, a lethal condition, of the uterus being filled with pus. It could be very serious, please have her checked out by a vet.

Sometimes after a heat, a females breasts can swell. They also can have a false pregnancy. This will give signs of a pregnancy..swollen abdomen, produce milk....this what it sounds like she may be experiencing. Unless you think she may have had contact with a male dog during her heat..... My guess is she is going through false pregnancy. Good luck

Yes,and should be delivering very soon, unless it's a pseudo- pregnancy. You should take her to the vet,her being so young, and then I hope you will have her spayed when the pups are weaned. There are just too many dogs being killed in shelters, because people don't get their dogs fixed.
