I have to ask this cause someone asked why religious older people look at you funny when you buy condoms and someone commented on sex before marriage. Now nowhere in the question was there a mention of marital state, so the buying of th condoms must have concluded that they weren't married. Now I can demonstrate that this is indeed false, I know plenty of married couples who have kids and the woman wasn't on birth control anymore and they have to use condoms or get something permanent done.

Or do some people assume that married couples only have sex when they are trying to get pregnant?

Fascinating.

For the record, religious older people look at everyone funny. It doesn't matter if you're buying condoms, eating an ice cream cone or trying to find your own car in the mall parking lot.

Regarding the person you mention who commented on sex before marriage: it was probably a poor attempt at trying to pick you up. Prying. An effort on their part to gain information about you as the asker may have been able to extrapolate your actions and reactions and turn it into a possible sexual situation. But instead you ran and turned to Yahoo Answers. So here you are reading my analysis.

The additional information you provided confuses the question. Your concern here seems to be with this individual who has asked about religious older people and why they look at you(?) funny. In the support information you seem to be re-asking a question on behalf of someone else, and appears you have never been involved in this situation where some church-going folk has rumpled their eyebrows at you(?) while shopping. Ultimately, then, nobody has made any assumption about you or looked at you funny.

Your data here regarding the sexual habits of numerous couples shared with you is impressive. Equally impressive is your proof on this issue because all your buddies wear rubbers when banging their wives.

Unfortunatly, I'm not able to answer your question as my data is inconclusive. I'm only writing because I'm intrigued by your technique. You've asked a question that obviously is very important to you, you've presented the facts, made a conclusion (answered your own question), then asked another one.

Your research and conclusion should put an end to the strange looks at the pharmacy and speculation about whether or not that other person who asked some question heck knows when or where is married or not. I'm glad this is an issue no more and I commend you on your rigid scientific method.

first of all ....in this day and at the age that is appropriate for using or needing condoms,....yes marital status is important to know, but protecting yourself from from "A"to "Z" is more important than any other gift that you can give to yourself these days.abstinence is always the best protection next to a blood test.every married couple and situation is different and unique, also personal......and if you really look at the word assume! In the old school it breaks down too making an"***- of "u"an"me".....that's why rather buying condoms or assuming who's using them and for what purposes could fall short in the all around......be glad someone made them an be happy your helping society stay aware

I used to buy condoms when I was married all the time. My wife didn't want to get pregnant, I didn't want to get a vasectomy, and neither of us wanted her to have to deal with the dangerous side effects of birth control pills.

Still...I have never had anyone make any comment to me when I was buying condoms. What you have in your grocery basket is your own business. Put it under the dog food if you want.

No brainer.

I had to buy them for my son--just as a precaution--a just in case type thing.
I don't want to be a grandmother just yet.
Odd, isn't it?
You should have seen me and my husband trying to decide which type to buy. We've never used them ourselves. We knew nothing about these things.
Now I know I'm old.

My parents buy condoms, and they've been married for 36 years.

Some religious people think any form of birth control is wrong. Fundamentalist PHARMACISTS have refused to fill prescriptions for morning-after pills because they think it's tantamount to promoting and assisting in abortions. To me, that's one of THE most ignorant beliefs out there.

I'd like one of those nutjobs to show me, where in the bible it says you can't use protection?
