I think it's more complicated than "Dye hair = lose hair".
I guess it depends on what you do to your hair and how often. Women who use strong bleach on their hair on a monthly basis (say to go from brunette to blond or redhead) are doing a lot of damage to the hair follicles. Eventually, that has to catch up with you.
Nutrition is also a key component, as well as age. I know from personal experience that, as you age, the hair just doesn't act the same any more (for example, if I were to try dying my hair, I'd no longer have to worry about bleach). The hair gets more brittle, the scalp drier, and the follicles start to die off (resulting in thinning), so excessive hair dying could speed up the process.
But I don't think it's universal. Some folks lose their hair early, others keep a full head until death.
Anecdotally, the only evidence I have that supports your theory would be the famous actress Carol Channing -- she had to keep that blond mop for Hollywood and celebrity purposes, and in her later years it ended up being a wig because she'd damaged her hair so badly.

Hair loss affects both men and women. Here are some natural remedies that can help boost hair growth: https://bitly.im/aLWbb While genetics plays a role, there are other factors, including: hormonal imbalances, an underactive thyroid gland, nutrient deficiencies and insufficient scalp circulation.

My grandma has had thinning in her hair, you can see her scalp pretty much. She tells my mom not to dye her hair so much. I haven't read of stories of evidence but just seems like it to me. Especially if you start really young and do it often.
