It gives them something to try to justify the existence of their imaginary deity.

Actually -
Two THEOLOGICAL schools of thought:
1. coincidences are .... things that happen at random in a world beset by sin and corruption.
2. God is sovereign over the world of sin and corruption and he causes all things to have purpose, in his time.
Funny, but when I pray, the coincidences seem to work out better and more frequently than when I don't. Kinda like it's easier to eat when I'm at the table than when I'm out in the yard.

If the air moves and you can't see it, does that mean wind doesn't exist? Humans can never hope to see or perceive everything. What makes you think they're just coincidences? Are there no mysteries left in the world for you? Just because you cannot see God with your own two eyes, does not mean he is nonexistant.

My life is not a coincidence, the things that have happened to me are the work of God...The things I have been through and seen, the things He has saved me from, and the things He has done for me are amazing...

its kinda like this, a christian is having a very serious heart op, they have a 50% chance of survival, they pray as do their friends family etc, they die then 'god didn't mean for it to be' he pulls though 'oh praise the lord, the lord has saved him' no actually that would be the specialist surgeon who could well be an atheist, they set situations like this up so they can't lose and the bible does also say 'god works though his people' so its like they build a house, 'the lord built the house though me' no you built it thinking the lord did. and yes when things happen like say lightining strikes and narrowly misses them its an act of god, more likely the lighting was atracted to something ferrous in the ground which wasn't where they happened to be standing the thing with this kind of set up is if they where standing 500 yards away they wouldn't be thanking god for saving them because it wasn't a near miss

Not even a blade of grass moves without the Lord's will.
Coincidences are a part of the Lord's masterplan for us.
Our imperfect senses consider those as "coincidences" when they actually are planned incidents.

I've had ALOT of coincidences then... like tons and they are usually GOOD ones too.
Sometimes on a weekly or daily basis but sometimes even on an hourly basis.
but i always get at least a couple a week.

God is a conclusion in search of evidence to support it. Therefore, coincidences are the only available handles to grab on to.

Because I don't believe in coincidence, that's why. I believe that God is in control of my life, and there've been too many things that have happened 'providentially' for me to think otherwise.

Because that is what spirituality ultimately comes down to: attaching significance to personal experiences which, to most outside observers, may seem coincidental or otherwise mundane.
This begs the question though: is an experience that is subjective (and not objective/repeatable) necessarily invalid to that person?
