I am assuming you are a young person, and I would strongly suggest doing a lot of research concerning the back ground history of the Religion. First do not be "rail roaded" by a couple of missionaries, whether young men or women. Many of those younger persons are very shortly out of High School or perhaps just a couple of years worth of college. Please understand most of those Missionaries have been groomed since before primary school to "go on your Mission". A careful close look at the religion will soon disclose a determined control of what you think and the decisions you make. While you may believe what you are feeling is, a "burning in the boosom" of the Lord's desires for you to become a memeber of the LDS Church, do not be runover by artifical emotions. The Missionaries and membership have suceeded in learning the tools of mass hypnosysis. A visit to one of the "Fast and Testimony, Sacrament Service" should be a real education for you. The mass hysteria passes among many of the members to arise and share their "Testimony as to why the Church is true and Joseph smith was a real Prophet. I strongly suggest you study his history, from sources other then what the LDS Church will provide you to read. They have of course, placed a very "polished face" upon his activities. Research the polgamy aspect of the the Church's History. Study the claims made concerning the reality of the "Book Of Mormon" and it's fictional origins. Above all do not believe any thing they state as being positive unless you varify the facts from your own sources. A good place to start is in the internet for there is much information which is available.

Now beyound this aspect of the Mormon church, go back and take a careful thoughtful study of the Bible and The Lord Jesus Christ. Many people have wished after joining the LDS group come to wish they had done more research. For an example of those feelings and beliefs go to some of the internet X-Mormon sites and chat with others that have "been there done that" , you will find the information revealing. A good careful chat on your knees with the Lord may very well provide inspiration to assist your decision.

Please let it be said there are some very fine people whom have been "taken in" by the fast, smooth sweet talk, of Missionaries and very zealous folks.

In closing, you may very well ask what is my point of reference and motive for speaking as I do? Allow that I am a senior citizen with grown adult children and Grandchildren. I spent 50+ years of my adult life as an active member of the LDS Church. I asended into the hirearcy of the Priesthood et al. I have served in 5 different Bishoprics (that is the local leaders of a Parish, or other such named religious local membership group) I have seen the inside of the organization as I was even employed by the Corpartion of the Church, and been in their temple. It was very late in my life I found out the truth. I will not go into lengthy detail, but hope and pray you may not waste a lot of your years in pursute of something that is false.

Go back and apeal to the Lord and Savior of us all for guidance as to where you should place you belief.

May He Bless you in your research

I've heard a story similar to this before. A boy wanted to become LDS, but if he did so he would lose his job, his family would disown him and he would have to leave town. While getting the interview necessary to be baptized he was asked if he really wanted to go through with this even though he would lose everything. He responded "It's true isn't it?" The reply from the man interviewing him was yes so the boy said "Then what else matters?" Being a minor though you can't really join yet if your parents say no. Wait until you are 18 and study The Book of Mormon and The Bible. In case you don't already know about it the site below is a great resource for all LDS people. It has things like General conference and The New Era (a magazine for teens). They also have church music and even on youtube there are good uplifting songs (type in Jenny Phillips). One of my good friends was not allowed to get baptized until she was 18 either. Stay faithful and remember that the Lord knows what you are going through. Stay strong and remember that you are a daughter of God and He loves you.

Either call your local Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints or log on to lds.mormon/org. You can order a free Book of Mormon and have it delivered to your door by the missionaries.

Take the lessons as you continually pray, always seeking the spirit of truth.

Don't consider joining the Church simply to have more friends. Be more concerned over your personal salvation and exaltation for the eternities ahead. You will make more friends in the Church because we have many activities geared to all age groups.

Many of my Mormon acquaintances lean more to the conservative side, but there are instances of Mormons being left of center, such as Senator Harry Reid.

As mentioned earlier, the LDS Church stays out of politics, remaining neutral, yet the members are most patriotic and abide the laws of the land by voting for their best candidate.

Simply start by having missionaries visit you for the several lessons they give. At one point they will bring a member of the church with them to be your primary contact and advisor.

That's a great desicion from you! Do what me and mom did, we saw this TV add and we called the # there and weeks later they sent missionaries to my house and they started to teach us. We believe that God is our heavenly father, that Jesus is his son, pur brother that died for us so we can be saved. We read the Bible and the Book of Mormon. This is Jusus' restored church. That we all have a purpose in life. We try to follow Jesus' example and we also have the Word of Wisdom which is great; it consist that your body is your temple and the temple of the Holy Spirit so we have to take care of it and don't harm it, in order to do that we avoid drugs, tobacco, tea, coffee and any kind of alcohol. Those things also can lead to an addiction and we are not suppposed be be addicted to anything but God's love ^_^
Our Heavenly father loves us all because we are his children. Praying is very important because that's the way we communicate with him.

Hope this help. This church has changed my life for good. I know you will love it and I hope you enjoy being a Mormon as I do. ^_^ Keep praying to our Heavenly Father, whatever you do, never stop praying because that helps a lot and you will always receive an answer as long as you pray honestly and with humility.

Email me and let me know what happened!!!!!!!!

Ah, and don't pay attention to the mean comments that you would find here in YA about LDS, this is full of anti-mormons, ex-mormons that become anti-mormons and lots of religion bashers. :)

Politics have nothing to do with religion. All the political stuff came because of Romney, but not all Mormons have the same political point of view, it is up to the person. To myself I don't care about politics :)

I am Mormon and I want to comment on your questions and statements.

! talk to the Missionaries, go to a church service, etc.

I have a pretty good life -- I am very poor (teacher) but I have a beautiful wife and 3 gr8 kids.

I have 0 friends. I am not a friendly person, I do not talk to my neighbors if I can help it and I do not have friends at church (this is atypical for a Mormon but if you knew me you would think Mormons are unfriendly)

what do I believe ( www.lds.org -- www.mormon.org )

My wife is a Mormon and she is a center democrat, I am a right-wing independent, my bishop is republican, my stake president is democrat. -- Most Mormons lean right.

i cannot in good conscience pass this question without saying something...please be very skeptical when approaching this church. there are things they won't tell you until you are well involved in the church and have too many ties to want to leave. they do live a good life, they have good values. but, there are faults in their teachings. there are other Christian sects in which the members also live good lives and they follow the Bible's and Jesus' teachings more closely. sweetie, do not join because you want more friends. having a few good friends is much better than having many, many friends that aren't so good. and, if you are young, under the age of 18, do not commit yourself to such a big decision. your beliefs will change as you mature, so you should wait until you are a bit older. i do encourage you to pray and ask God to help you find the right path. good luck and God Bless!

i apologize if i offended any mormons with this answer, but the holy spirit was pulling my heart strings and i just had to.

The easiest thing to do is browse to http://www.mormon.org and choose the "Ask a question" option followed by "Have missionaries contact me." It will lead you through the process.

At that same web site are a number of videos explaining beliefs about the Church.

The LDS Church stays neutral on politics, but does encourage citizens of all countries to be involved in the process of creating and supporting good government when possible.

I don't have time to expound on why I chose not to be a Mormon except that I found and am thankful for our LORD JESUS CHRIST and for my non-denominational Bible Believing Church and Church Family whom I share God's Word and fellowship with...I am FREE and do not have to worry that I am being misguided by a man-made religion....you need to do your homework about LDS Church and the life and times of it's founder, Brigham Young .......

First talk to the missionaries. they can tell you anything you want, and answer all your questions. as to what we believe, here are the 13 Articles of Faith: they are the basic beliefs of the Church. I don't know what political party we like, since I am not political at the moment, and the Church does not mix politics with our religion, or tell our voters who/how to vote for.

1 WE BELIEVE in God, the Eternal Father, and in His Son, Jesus Christ, and in the Holy Ghost.

2 WE BELIEVE that men will be punished for their own sins, and not for Adam’s transgression.

3 WE BELIEVE that through the Atonement of Christ, all mankind may be saved, by obedience to the laws and ordinances of the Gospel.

4 WE BELIEVE that the first principles and ordinances of the Gospel are: first, Faith in the Lord Jesus Christ; second, Repentance; third, Baptism by immersion for the remission of sins; fourth, Laying on of hands for the gift of the Holy Ghost.

5 WE BELIEVE that a man must be called of God, by prophecy, and by the laying on of hands by those who are in authority, to preach the Gospel and administer in the ordinances thereof.
6 WE BELIEVE in the same organization that existed in the Primitive Church, namely, apostles, prophets, pastors, teachers, evangelists, and so forth.

7 WE BELIEVE in the gift of tongues, prophecy, revelation, visions, healing, interpretation of tongues, and so forth.

8 WE BELIEVE the Bible to be the word of God as far as it is translated correctly; we also believe the Book of Mormon to be the word of God.

9 WE BELIEVE all that God has revealed, all that He does now reveal, and we believe that He will yet reveal many great and important things pertaining to the Kingdom of God.

10 WE BELIEVE in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.

11 WE CLAIM the privilege of worshiping Almighty God according to the dictates of our own conscience, and allow all men the same privilege, let them worship how, where, or what they may.

12 WE BELIEVE in being subject to kings, presidents, rulers, and magistrates, in obeying, honoring, and sustaining the law.

13 WE BELIEVE in being honest, true, chaste, benevolent, virtuous, and in doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul—We believe all things, we hope all things, we have endured many things, and hope to be able to endure all things. If there is anything virtuous, lovely, or of good report or praiseworthy, we seek after these things.

Visit with the missionaries, listen to the lessons, exercise faith in Jesus Christ, Repent of your sins and be baptized and recieve the Gift of the Holy Ghost.

But do so when you believe, not just for socializing.

Politics is irrelevant. different people have different views. That is why we have the Spirit, to discern the truth.
