cos i'm a fairly devout Christian, nothing is gonna change that but just about everyone in my life are either Atheists or Christian but don't practice their beliefs.

Anyways, all my friends are Atheists, but the thing is they dont' give a shiit whether i'm Christian or not... mostly cos i dont' preach or try to convert them but it's not like they hate Christians or religion.

But i'm just curious... how do most of you behave with ppl of opposite belief in person?

I have religious friends. My in-laws are christian.
I even go to church to keep them happy. I hate it though. I even dress up too. It's all mumbo jumbo to me I can't understand a thing they talk about and why is there no air-conditioning.

I live in a town with a population of 534. Our beliefs break down in this manner:

Atheists...4. My 3 kids and I.

Buddhists...7. There is a family here from Hong Kong.

Muslims...4. They live right up the street from me, nice family.

That leaves us with 519 Christians. Some are Pentecostal, some Methodist, Baptist, and non-denominational. Oh, there is an Amish family two miles out the road but I don't know how many in total.

No one in my little neck of the woods cares about religion, skin color, nationality, or sexual preference. We're just country folks and we do whatever is necessary to have a nice little community. If someone needs help, they get it. Someone knocks on the door, you invite them in.

I have never seen such discrimination as I see in this forum. I really don't think people behave like this when they turn off their computer. At least, I hope they don't.

I don't seem to really get along with religious people. I have nothing against them, and would never spew hate, or treat them less than anyone else. Truth is there's not a lot of devout Christians where I live, so I don't have many Christian friends by default.

Absolutely. I guess it depends on how much life experience you've had. I was Christian, now agnostic. I have a Catholic staying with me who has been a friend for years. My uncle, who I love dearly, is a Jehovah's witness, but he doesn't preach to me, but I have read the bible, so we can discuss it. It is the same with people with political differences. Some of my best friends used to disagree with me, .......but, they're coming around.

well I'm an atheist, great, well I have friends who are Muslim Bhuddist jewish wiccan even and christian as well, I don't shove my beliefs down their neck and they don't shove theirs down mine we get along perfectly happily

@ the person saying 'most atheists are gay' this shows you are small minded uneducated person who may as well have been living in a cave on mars, with a blindfold on and you fingers in your ears for what you know, because actully most of us arn't gay, i think, infact I have gay friends, but my Girlfriend and I are very happy with each other, so you have no right and you need to realise that unlike most christians we are a very diverse people who are only united though the fact we know there is no god thats it otherwise we are unique beings

Hey now, that is not the kind of language Jesus would have used was it?

I'm an Atheist, I don't even know what half my friends are. Those that are religious seem to be mostly Catholic.

I accept people the way they are, who am i to change there mind. You cant argue someone into faith, they have to want it. the fact that you have non Christian friends is great, i do too, and religion is one thing we don't talk about, and that's ok because that's who they are. but I do pray for them(they don't know that)

Well, I marrying one, so you could say my best friend in the world is a Christian.

With his mother, I smile and nod a lot. It's just easier to deal with her by agreeing, and makes her son happy too. With my other friends who have many different faiths, we agree to disagree.

I have a couple of christian friends, and the standard social rules apply - religion is only discussed when BOTH parties want to.

Otherwise they would not be my friends.
