You have a small risk that the bite will get infected, nothing more. There is nothing an 8 week old kitten will be harboring that will be seriously harmful. Skip the perfume, why you'd do that I don't know.... wash with regular soap and water and apply some neosporin (antibiotic ointment) and a bandaid. If it gets really red and swollen (slim chance) then see the doc about oral antibiotics. At this age, the kittens are protected against whatever mom's been vaccinated for, the immunity crosses over in mother's milk. Take a breath, have a beer, and chill out man.

I always put hydrogen peroxide 3% on my cat bites and scratches. It is a common item that you purchase at a drugstore,
apothecaries (now called pharmacists or chemists). It is very inexspensive and is a normal item that is usually sold in the aisle where you find rubbing alcohol.

Some people suggest neosporin but I don't normally use it. I want my wounds to dry out and not stay wet like an ointment would make them.

When I have been bit or scratched I poor rubbing alcohol on it. Then I wash it well with soap and water. Then I finish up by putting hydrogen peroxide on it.

You are more likely to have bacteria from a cat bite than from a scratch. But if you treat it twice daily with rubbing alcohol and peroxide the bites and scratches will typically heal with no problems. Normally you don't need to see a Doctor. Bites usually cause swelling the day you have the bite.

If you are worried about rabies I wouldn't be. The kitten would have had to been bitten by a rabid animal.

If a dog or cat, appeared ill at the time it bit you or becomes ill during the 10 day quarantine, it should be evaluated by a veterinarian for signs of rabies and you should seek medical advice about the need for anti-rabies shots.

No person in the United States has ever contracted rabies from a dog or cat held under quarantine for 10 days. The quarantine period is a precaution against the remote possibility that an animal may appear healthy, but actually be sick with rabies.

You are totally freaking out dude. Vaccinations will prevent the cat from getting stuff but you do jack for you. Chances are that absolutely nothing will happen to you. As the chances are so low just calm down. If and when you do start feeling sick then go the doctor. Until then stop freaking out as the stress from your head tripping will make you ill.My kittens have bitten me a couple of times, scratched too. You stop playing with them when they do, find something else to do and they grow out of it. Stop acting like a 6 year old is my advice.

You do realise that there is no link between protecting your cat against flu and yourself against anything you might catch? Vaccinations are very specific vaccinations. If you have ever been bitten by a cat, or anyone you know then think hmmm we were ok then so we will probably be ok now. What doesn't kill you makes you stronger. So think of it as a positive....naybe go look for a few more challenges to make you stronger too LoL.

I don't really know what the big panic is. usually if something worse than an infection is going to happen it happens really quickly. If you live in Australia there is no rabies here. But i have been told by someone from America that you shouldn't go near stray cats as they could have rabies.
Also i don't think it is a good idea to put perfume on your woun. dettol has alcohol and everything needed to disenfect. Perfume also has other ingredients in it which could cause you harm as perfume should only be used externally.

The kitten should still have some immunity from it's mother. Keep the wound clean but don't wash it too much. Put a little iodine on it and let it breathe. Your risk of rabies is extremely low. Your risk of cat scratch fever is small. Your risk of turning into a cat is very very small.

I am a veterinary technician and have been bit a few times. Not proud moments. They always always resulted in me immediately scrubbing my wound and being escorted to the er.
Cats mouths are filthy with bacteria and the tissue trauma can be extremely painful. So you need to see a doctor. Usually antibiotics are necessary to fight infection. If you don't address this now you could become septic and then things get serious. Go to the doctor asap

You should be fine. Kittens have very small teeth. If you have cleaned the wound, (and it sounds like you definitely have) you need to leave the wound alone and let it heal. If it gets dark red, swollen, and remains painful for a week, you might want to get it looked at. I really think you'll be fine though.

Just keep an eye on it and use a triple antibiotic ointment on it. You shold be fine, I have been bitten numerous times by unvaccinated cats and dogs when I worked in a vets office.
You should be just fine and if you re keeping teh kitten it is old enough to get it's shots now.

There are a coule of things to worry about, but nothing serious, first of all, the nasty bacteria -as mentioned above- can cause the wound to be come infected, keep it clean. But Feline Bartonella, ablood parasite, that causes cat scratch diease can cause some unwanted symptoms later. It's certanly not going to hurt to see your doctor, but probably not the ER.
