Or is proposing a generally accepted method of asking/finding out? Shouldn't a boy/girl know that they're going to marry each other already - before that particular 'proposal' moment?

Most people have discussed marriage prior to actually getting engaged. It's important to find out how the other person feels about having kids, finances, division of chores, merging accounts, how to raise kids, religion, etc., etc. prior to actually asking for someone to spend the rest of their life with you. If you haven't ever talked about marriage, maybe you should before you think about proposing.

Hopefully you have been together long enough that she will not be in shock by a premature proposal. You will know when she is ready for a proposal. Girls tend to let off signs. Even if they don't, if you two are comfortable together and feel like it is time to move onto something bigger together, then it might be time to propose. I suggest bringing up the subject of marriage sometime and she how she responds. That will give you a better idea if you need to wait a bit longer or not. Good luck!

a guy and a girl should know they want to get married before the guy asks. they should at least talk about it and make sure that is something that she wants. during a proposal (depending on how elaborate) a woman can feel compelled to say yes even though through some thought she may change her mind. that can lead to an expensive break up that could have been avoided if she feels trapped. talk to her before you ask.

Hopefully when you propose you would have a pretty good idea of what the answer will be. If you don't I'd question how well you know her and if you are even ready to propose.

Souonds like this guy needs to have his cake and consume it too. Your engaged yet he is going to confirm individuals untill he's definite that he must be engaged. That has to sound slightly insane to you. he's making use of the affection you have for him to flee with some thing it is unacceptable. RUN mutually as you may. do no longer waste an afternoon of your life waiting for this fool. Cry, moarn, get oevr it and flow on.

You should know the way she feels about you. Does she ever talk about being married to you and the big thing to is how you feel about her. Obviously you must love her as you would not have asked this question. If you dont ask you will never know. It might be she says yes. Good luck to you.

no you suppose to propose when you don't know what she will say to know if the answer is still yes because if you propose when you know she is going to say yes, you are ignoring the fact that she might reject you, so you will know how she could be feeling towards you at sometimes but if she say yes when you don't know then that means, it is alright.

Before proposing you should have a pretty good idea that she's going to say yes.

Otherwise....what's the point.

If it feels right to him, he should propose. If it doesn't feel right to her, she'll decline. (If she accepts the ring anyway, she's a greedy b*tch!)

usually the rule is never ask a question you don't already know the answer to, but there is never any way to know until you ask.
