Also, if someone asks me a question and I'm absolutely sure that the answer I'm giving is correct, and it turns out that the answer ISN'T correct, have I committed a sin?

Also, if my husband wants to do charity work on the Sabbath, like... a soup kitchen, or Habitat for Humanity... will he be committing a sin?

Also, if a police officer tries to pull a person out of a burning car and accidentally cuts them on a shard of glass which results in that persons death, has that police officer committed a sin?

The bank pen was not taken intentionally however, if you do realize after that you had taken it, it is your responsibility to return it otherwise you're purposely keeping it thereafter.

You answered a question which was false but you were not aware of is not a sin, but once you're aware of your error; you must admit your part. Otherwise you're intentionally holding on to it and based on the false answer you gave, the person which you gave it to might make wrongful choices based on the answer you gave and maybe sinning on your behalf. So you must correct your error immediately when you learn of it otherwise then it is intentional and is a sin.

When you're not to work on Sabbath usually refers to your usual job that you do on the other days, it also has to be something that you do for yourself or family and something that is physically exhausting. The case is however different if you're doing a charity work or something for the goodness of others or something that brings glory to God. So no your husband has not sinned.

The police case is definitely a pure accident and but he should before hand be extremely careful especially since he know in advance that the car is burning and will soon lead to other dangers, so based on his actions; he maybe held responsible.

To sum up, if someone does things unintentionally they are not accounted for until they've realize their shortcoming; they'r ethen to correct it immediately if possible -otherwise holding on to an error is intentional and leads to sin.

I thank you so much for your honest and forthcoming question. This will go in no particular order, but to answer your questions, I would like to submit to you this first: Religiosity and the truth of the bible do not always coexist peaceably. For example if someone’s occupation as a believer has them working on a Sunday then there is nothing in the Bible that would call that a sin. To do good works is always permit able and our duty as Christians, though it is not by our works that we are saved, it would become an issue if we made efforts to avoid service. Then that becomes an issue of the position of our hearts, and then how committed are we really to the Lord. Are we serving to bring honor to God in service of His people, or are we bringing glory to ourselves by showing others what we have done for those in more unfortunate positions than ourselves.
# 2: Murder as described in the Bible is having the evil intent to terminate someone’s life which is not our decision to make but Gods and His alone. Accidental death is not murder nor is it a sin. If a fireman pulling a man out of a building waited 2 seconds to long to pull a man out of the flames and he died from those last 2 seconds of smoke inhalation that would not be murder either.
#3 The pen question..... For the most part, stealing requires the intent to remove or covet and act on those feelings to attain that which is not yours. But also if you know that this "pen" is the banks and it was an accident then go return it to the bank, that is not stealing that is an accident. If you don’t return the pen however then you are taking what does not belong to you, now that you have knowledge that the item is not yours, and now with intent you keep it, that would be stealing.

I hope this answers your questions and if there is anything further please feel free to ask or email. I would love to give what I have been given.

> If I accidentally take a pen from the bank or from work, have I committed a sin?
You must now deliberately return it.

> Also, if someone asks me a question and I'm absolutely sure that the answer I'm giving is correct, and it turns out that the answer ISN'T correct, have I committed a sin?
You must fess up.

> Also, if my husband wants to do charity work on the Sabbath, like... a soup kitchen, or Habitat for Humanity... will he be committing a sin?
In theory, yes. Have your husband pray for forgiveness.

> has that police officer committed a sin?
Nope.

It's not so much a sin to accidentally do something wrong, but when you become aware of what you did, it is vital what you do about it if you want to please God. Return the pen, correct the answer with the one you told the wrong answer, your husband is fine because "if the camel is in the ditch on the sabbath, do you leave him there til the morrow?" said Jesus, the police officer should just pray for and console the family for what couldn't be helped, knowing he did the right thing to pull the guy out of a burning car and increased his chances of living by his action.

No, because you didn't do it intentionally. However, you should return it ASAP or it is sin.
In the second case you say something to that effect that you are not sure. It is only lying when you give information you know is false and you aren't being forced or coerced.

Work of the Lord on the Sabbath is not sin. Christ said as much when he cured the sick woman on a Sabbath.

As for the police officer the answer is no. That is because it wasn't intentional and he would have died any way had he done nothing.

I believe for a "sin" to be a "sin" it would have to be committed with the intention of being a sin. If you purposely steal then yes it
is a sin, but the above mentioned things seem to be more like accidents. None of the instances above does it say that the person set out to be malicious. Even working in a soup kitchen on Sunday is not a sin, unless you set out to put that charity work above God. The basic goal is lead a good life and try not to make mistakes, and if you do make mistakes try to make it right.

1) Take the pen back (you don't even have to tell anyone you took it)
2) Acknowledge that your original answer was incorrect.
3) Good for you and your husband for doing charity work on Sunday, Jesus did as well and even condoned working on Sunday if need be.
4) The police officer committed no sin, but will be sued for trillions for his efforts.

There are no accidental sins. Intent is everything.

1.Pen Question...it was an accident..not a I'm gonna take you and make you mine.. buwahahah.. come on now..
2.Faith is blind and ignorance is bliss..
3.The Sabbath Jesus himself did works for God Mark 2:27. Did he again say he was more authoritative than the Sabbath?Verse 27 teaches that the Sabbath was given for human good. Some people therefore claim that Sabbath rules must come before human needs, because those rules tell us what is best for us, and those rules are wiser than we are.

The context shows that Jesus actually meant the opposite: Human needs are more important than Sabbath restrictions. The Sabbath should serve human needs, rather than human needs being delayed to serve Sabbath rules. Jesus is definitely not saying that all human needs have to fit into the Sabbath rules! (For more on this, click here.)

Jesus pointed out that David could break an old covenant law without being guilty of sin (verse 26). This comparison would not be helpful if the Sabbath were considered a more important law than the one Jesus cited. The temple bread was holy; it could be eaten only by priests (Lev. 24:5-9). Nevertheless, that law could be set aside when hungry people had no other food. Similarly, Jesus considered the law prohibiting work on the Sabbath to be a ritual law that could be set aside when there was a human need.

5.No..He did not kill the person with malus are ill contempt.. Murder is the unlawfully taking of human life.. their fore the police officer did not kill..or Murder them..

Come on now..

Sin is a term used mainly in a religious context to describe an act that violates a moral rule, or the state of having committed such a violation.

What moral rule? Please read what Jesus did thousands years ago:

Matthew 12:1,10,11
At that time Jesus went through the grainfields on the Sabbath. His disciples were hungry and began to pick some heads of grain and eat them.
...
and a man with a shriveled hand was there. Looking for a reason to accuse Jesus, they asked him, “Is it lawful to heal on the Sabbath?”

He said to them, “If any of you has a sheep and it falls into a pit on the Sabbath, will you not take hold of it and lift it out?
How much more valuable is a man than a sheep! Therefore it is lawful to do good on the Sabbath.”

The pen: No you haven't stolen the pen, they want us to have those, it is just good business.
The incorrect question: No sin, it was you opinion, so what if you are always wrong.
Charity work on the Sabbath: Charity at anytime is encouraged in the bible. No sin here, either.
Police officer: No sin, murder is intended by a murderous person.

Now silly you: We Christians are full of sin. We are sinners, you are too. The good news, is that even if we try to be sinless we can't be sinless. But Jesus Christ offered his blood as the cleansing sacrifice for all our sins, including yours.

But all you were probably thinking was you might trip up some one,huh,....right?
