My dog basicly gets to pick what the cats eat cause she eats the cat food. We live in a very little country town, so she gets to run freely wherever she wants to go. She has never been on a chain in her life. She gets to go inside and outside at her own free will. I even have to wake up in the middle of the night to let her out cause she doesn't like to use her door. She always gets some if not most of my food. She even sleeps with me at night! All my neighbors laugh at how spoiled she is. But isn't that how a dog should live?? (I mean if you have the space) But since she gets so much freedom, she lets us do silly stuff to her... we colored her with food coloring for easter and pile pillows on her while she sleeps and leave her head stickin' out!

After two hours, I had gotten over 30 awnsers. I started to read them and I found myself in tears. But as I kept reading, my tears turned to bad tears. Why should a dog EVER have to serve YOU! My dog is fixed and YES she does come to her name being called! Plus there is no way to get her OFF the cat food. We have tried for the 7 years we have had her. She ended up chewing and eating PENCILS. Is that better for her than cat food? We live in the middle of nowhere, and she has never ran away or even gotten a scrach from another animal. She is one of my best friends and I do whatever I can to make her happy.

I have never heard of a dog being hurt due to too much love and care, so go for it!

I think your dog is living the good life. I can tell you totally love her.

The only thing I have to say is you need to rethink her diet. She is like your kid and would you let your kid eat lucky charms every meal every day? Of course not because you know children need balanced diets and healthy food to grow strong and live long. Cat food is basically like your dog eating Big Macs. It tastes great to her but is very bad for her.
Go ahead and do the parent thing and get the cat food out of her reach.

Get her a high quality dog food or better yet do some research about home made dog food. She will love it and it will be much better for her. Most importantly it will ensure she is around longer!

Well, yes and no. She's definatly got you trained that's for sure. But what about her training? Is she trained to walk on a leash, does she do as she's told. And the cat food is terriable for her. It contains way too much fat and other things that aren't good for dogs. Even if she doesn't show any signs of being unhealthy or over weight it's still not good for her. Neither is the human food, everything in moderation. You need to get her on a dog food, make sure she has good manners and a little spoiling won't hurt. I love the fact that she gets to roam free, as long as you don't live too close to a road. Also is she spayed? It's better for you and all the animals in the shelters without help.

Pets should be spoiled to the fullest extent. The only problem is that a dog shouldn't eat cat food; it can upset their stomachs and make them sick. Same for cats, they shouldn't eat dog food. The food coloring thing is a bit odd, but I guess it doesn't hurt them. But, I'm sure she's loving the attention! Nothing wrong with that.

Being spoiled isn't necessarily good for a dog. Your dog eats what it wants and not what is good for it. It may develop health problems. It runs freely and is never controlled. This means it does not know that your are alpha and this could lead to behavior problems later on. Eating people food is really bad, it can lead to health and weight problems. You may think you are providing the best possible life for your dog but you are not. A trained dog is a much better and safer pet. What if your dog goes after a poisonous snake, can you call it off? What if you drop a sizzling hamburger patty on to the floor, can you stop your dog from grabbing it? My dog are trained and reliable. They don't eat people food nor are the allowed in the kitchen at dinner prep time because they know they won't get anything even if dropped. Yet they are pampered. They are now napping on their couch after having had their afternoon veggies (frozen, defrosted). Also they (all three) sleep with me in bed but, I am in control. The allow me to move them around when I need room and they are not allowed to sleep on top of the covers as this pins me and I hate it.

who cares what your neighbors say. I have a field across from my house and i always use to take my dog over there and let her run..we spoiled her soo much..ur dog may be a little spoiled but that's how all dogs should be treated. :-)

My dog was so spoiled, she wouldn't sleep on the floor, she would either take the couch or my bed..but hey, at least we're giving our pets the best life they can instead of keeping them in a small cage outside their whole life letting them freeze to death in the winter and walk in their own crap. ='(

i have four dogs and spoil all of them, i think your dog is spoiled but lives a very good life, the only things i can say are dont get up in the middle of the night if your dog wants to go outside she can use her door or hold it, and when you feed her table scraps make sure you dont give her anything thats unhealthy for canines, and as long as she gets enough excercise and doesnt get fat its ok!

No that's not how she should live. You are running the risk of her getting hit by a car, hurt or killed by another animal. Feeding her your food can cause her heart, kidney, liver disease and risk of diabetes. There is so much that could happen to her and it's only a matter of time before something does. Great for her to have a fenced safe yard to run in and a warm safe place to sleep at night but really you should be a lot more caring as to her other "freedoms". She has you trained to be her servants not her owners which in my opinion is not the right way for an animal to live. We are their voice of reason and protection and if we are going to spend our lives taking care of them we need to do so in a responsible manner by providing a safe home and play area, proper medical care and proper training and feeding. If your dog were a human child she would be headed to the nearest jail in a few years because she thinks she is the queen of everything and gets away with anything.

I think doggies deserve to be spoiled. However, too much spoiling is not healthy. For example, you should not allow her to eat human and cat food. Do not let your dog run freely outside of a fenced area because she can get ran over, stolen, or attacked.
