Well, its good for me. Have you been to a service? Had missionaries visit? Those are good places to start. After converting to the Mormon Church, I have found a lot more meaning in my life. You might too, but you wont know until you try

Well, since our church isn't called "Mormon", maybe you should do some research first. Have you talked to missionaries, or anyone in the church? Have you read the Book of Mormon and understand the general principles of the church?

If you haven't done any of that yet, and don't understand the way the church works, then that should be your first step in deciding anything.

I really don't like what other people have been saying. Just because we don't believe some of the same things as them, we are wrong, or bad, or automatically going to hell. I don't like that. Just because you don't agree with us, doesn't mean we are evil or wrong. What most people have been told is totally not true, or partially true mixed with a bunch of lies. Until you understand what we are really about, and can understand those principles, you won't understand the church.

Here are some websites for you. It might help you to at least make an informed decision.

I would also ask that you sincerely pray about things and find out what God wants you to do, or if what you find out and read is true.

It was September 11, 1857. A wagon train of 160 settlers on their way to California was massacred by a bunch of Mormons dressed in Indian clothes. 17 children under the age of 8 were spared and lived to tell their story.
1st. They dressed as Indians but after five days they changed tactics.
2nd. Then they went a bit away ,dressed back into normal clothes and acted like the Rescue Party who had negotiated a deal with the"Indians".
3rd, Then confiscated all the guns as part of the deal for "saving" the travellers and Mormon dissidents( who were the reason for the attack in the first place).
4th. Took everybody off a mile or so and shot them all. 2 men got away but were eventually tracked down and killed a day or so later.
5th. Took the 17 children they had not killed back with them to Salt Lake City.
6th. Got away with it. After a publicized trial, with the childrens own testimony admitted into the court, only 1 man was convicted and shot, John D. Lee. ( pardoned by Church 1960) The church even protected over 100 other killers involved in this massacre from Federal prosecution. Then they say "Thou Shalt Not Kill " doesn't apply to them . Only everyone else.

It ended up being called the Mountain Meadows Massacre. The first time in U.S. history that U.S. citizens were massacred on U.S. soil by religious wackos. This event is even more significant because the total U.S. population at the time was much smaller.(I dont know the exact numbers, maybe only 30 million or so) In todays numbers it would be around 1400 dead.

Why do the the Mormons have a problem being called Mormon? That singing group, that preforms for General Conference and other events, what's it called? UH, The MORMON Tabernacle Choir?

As far as the Mormon church being right for you, only you can decide that. All I can say is to do your own research. Don't listen to anyone. Pray about, read the Bible and ask God to lead you to where he wants you to be.

Before you decide...PLEASE do your research...and not just on mormon sites like lds.org or mormon.org, because there is a lot of dirt in the church's history that they wont tell you. Also, the missionaries dont tell you everything, even up until the point of your baptism. The whole "milk before meat" thing, they dont want to tell you all the weird stuff until you're hooked on the sugar coated version of their religion. i would find an ex mormon or someone like that who IS NOT BIASED and talk to them about it. (mormons will tell you this isnt true but it is: NOT ALL EX MORMONS HAVE A GRUDGE AGAINST THE CHURCH!) they can be a great source of truthful information about the chruch. i reccommend exmormon.org. very useful and honest site.

good luck in your search for truth, but please step lightly. use caution...there are churches that are built on a decaying foundation covered with a shiny coat of lies. all i'm saying is KNOW WHAT YOU'RE GETTING INTO!

remember, don't pick a church to attend that is a perfect fit for you. Pick a church that follows God's teaching. Picking a church to accomodate your wants and desires is selfish and is a sure fire way of displeasing God. I personally don't agree with mormons and believe the book of mormon is man's attempt to add to the bible. This is a specific case in which God's word is being disobeyed. we are not to add to or take away from God's word (the bible). Do some searching in the scripture for yourself and find a church that worships God and His word only and not themselves. hope this helps.

You can't take anyone's word for it.
Go around town and go to a differnt church every sunday and see what one you would like to be a part of. Chose one where you are comfortable and are welcomed. Set up meetings w/ ministers/priests/pastors of differnet church and talk about their church and what it means to be a part of it. Based on the style of service, how comfortable you are and the beliefs of the church, choose one the is good for you.
Good Luck!!

Please don't listen to Anti-Mormons or others who bash us. If you want to learn about the Church, then you should go straight to the source; a member. I have posted some links that you can go to to learn all about the basics of our beliefs. the first 2 are church websites, and the second is a link to find a ward in your area, if you are interested in going to a meeting. anyone at that meeting would be more than happy to answer any Q you have, as well as point you to the missionaries, who can teach you about the Church.

Jesus established his church over 2000 years ago, the mormon church isn't even 200 years old. The church you choose doesn't really manner its you faith in God that really manners.John 3 verse 16. End of story it says it all.

No. The Mormon belief structure is not in the classic Christian mold. If you are searching for a true Christian church which follows teh belief system of the Biblical Christians like Peter and Paul, then join a church such as the Lutheran or Catholic churches.
