Yeah, I think it could be classified as a joke, because when she said that she let out a silent fart,it was actually a aloud one. She just didn't hear it.

This joke does not make sense. Why wouldn't she realise her hearing aid was faulty when she couldn't hear the sermon, the congregation singing or talking amongst themselves, or most significantly her own voice while speaking to her husband?
