I'm not quite sure who told you the dress will turn yellow because of the veil - I promise you that is not going to do it. Make sure you keep it in the bag you bought it in ... the more you expose it to air and the more you keep touching it and getting the oils from your hands on the fabric - the higher probability it will turn colors. There is no reason to go out and get it dry cleaned, especially since you haven't worn it yet - just avoid the temptation to try it on every chance you get.

I don't know about it turning yellow...there should be nothing in the veil that would cause that problem, but it can't hurt to keep the veil in a separate garment bag.
According to Martha Stewart's winter Weddings magazine, each dress should be in its own garment bag. Considering how much time you have left, you should fold these, as opposed to hanging them...Hanging them for too long can cause the weight of the dress to pull on the straps and distort the fabric.
Once you're ready to go in for fittings, it will be time to start hanging them...Martha Stewart suggested this should be no longer than a month or two. While you have possession of it, keep it in the garment bag.
Hopefully, whoever does your alterations will also hold it, and press it for you directly before the wedding. If this cannot happen, ignore any wrinkling that may occur. On the day of the wedding, take the dress out of the bag, and hang it in the bathroom with the shower running. Use a dry, white towel to smooth out any wrinkles that may have formed.

I bought my wedding dress in Feb. '07 and my wedding date is 11-3-07 so my dress has "been sitting" for awhile. I also was told that my dress could turn yellow. To avoid anything turning yellow this is what I was told:
I bought a garment bag and I was told that I should wrap my dress in a plain, white cotton sheet so that it is tight like a mummy and then put it into the garment bag. I folded my veil on a hanger and put that in a separate closet until I get everything pressed. I have had no problems with anything turning yellow.
Congrats and good luck!

When I was working in a dry cleaners I was advised to keep wedding dresses wrapped in white tissue paper as this will stop the yellowing . also keep them out of direct light. Congrats on your wedding hope everything goes well.
