I think you are right. With this, I am not saying that ALL children or ALL young adults are ill-mannered, but I do believe that younger people do not have as much respect as they maybe should have for people who are older than them. I don't live in England anymore, but I remember being a little surprised at the way some kids behaved, as I thought they were just too disrespectful in general. I am English. I am 28 years old, and I was born and grew up in England until the age of 13, when I moved to Germany. I came back to England 6 years afterwards, did my degree and then moved to Italy, where I have been for the past 6 years. Things here are really different. Old and young get on really well and have mutual respect for each other. I suppose It's just society that makes the man.

This is rude. Once, I was taking a bus with my then-3 year old - niece. It was a 90 min ride to the airport leaving at 4 am. Our city was one of the final bus stops and when we boarded, she walked down the aisle while I paid the driver. She came back up front and said, "Auntie, there's no room." People just stared at us for about 2 minutes until the bus driver asked if 2 people could share a seat so my niece and I could sit together. It was frustrating that the other passengers would have split up a small child and an adult.

It depends on the situation - if its a pregnant woman, I do (although I am more reluctant now after the time I gave up my seat to a woman *thinking* she was pregnant ... and she was just overweight and offended).

If its an elderly person who has difficulty standing or with mobility, I give it up then. However, if its just an elderly person with no physical faults (I mean, my grandmother of 86 is probably more active that a lot of people my own age) and I happened to beat them to the seat, its a case of 'you snooze, you lose'. I also just like to mention that I let them get on the bus first, so they have a higher chance; its really just the ones that couldn't be bothered to be punctual.

It not cool to be rude, its todays society where young children are not taught respect. there have been many children that really need a good spanking to stop their cruel actions but the parents do nothing and well the kid grows up and doesn't change and then people wonder why the adults are so screwed up.

When I grew up I knew if I told a adult Fu** You I would get in trouble by probably a spanking and thats why I didn't do it but many kids today don't have that worry about repercussions of their actions.

Todays kids have less asked of them for what ever reasons so they have less respect for other people.

I've given up my seat many times... it's really upsetting when a blind person or an elderly person with a cane gets onto the crowded bus (or wherever it is they're going) and nobody offers a seat.

When I was seven months pregnant, I once stood on a bus for half an hour when nobody would give up a seat. Now, I wouldn't ever want anyone to have to do that.

I dont think that the majority of parents teach manners to their kids anymore. I am a teenager and I always give up my seat to people that need it more than I do especially anyone older than me, disabled people, and pregnant people. But most kids even if they werent taught that should have the common since to do it anyways so I guess for the people who don't give up their seats it's because they are rude and just care about themselves.

In the Czech Republic you get really filthy looks if you are a young person or man and do not offer your seat to a senior citizen or woman standing on the public transport. Just try a few trips on the metro or a bus in Prague

i ALWAYS give my seat up for those who need it more than i do, i've been heavily pregnant and had to stand in the aisle of a bus laden down with bags while people just sit there, they look like they feel awkward but they dont move, and its mainly business men with a suit and tie on that did it,even when i was pregnant i gave up my seat for elderly people, because no one else was prepared to,and she needed it more than i did.but got to say more often than not i dont get a thank you, kiss my ar*e or nothing.it does annoy me,but at least i know i've done the right thing.

The children today are not taught manners. Another thing people do that really annoys me is throwing rubbish on the ground and not using the dustbin!!!!!! Also when dog dirt is left on the ground because people can't be bothered to pick it up!! Why can't people be clean and tidy?? England would be a much nicer and cleaner place if we all used what is available!!!

confident. President Taft (he weighted 310 lbs) advised this tale plenty: "i became into sitting on a crowded bus whilst they permit some greater people on who ended up status. Being a gentleman, i desperate to stand up and permit 3 women to have a seat!". :P .
