My fiance is Samoan and American Indian I am Mexican and American Indian, is it too much to try incorporate aspects from all four of the cultures that make us who we are? We really want a multicultural wedding and are playing with ideas of how to do so, for example, she was going to ask her aunts to make all the groomsmen and bridesmaids attire in a nice island print. We were also planning on having hoop dancers perform at our wedding and possibly have a round dance, sung by my brother, for our guests. I wanted a Mariachi to play for a while when the reception is just getting started. Is this too much stuff to try and throw into a wedding? What do you think? Is it better to just have subtle accents of our cultures through the cake design or favors instead of full on entertainment? I'm conflicted and would just like some suggestions or interesting ideas. Thanks a bunch.

Of course! The wedding should a a reflection of the couple and the joining of the couple. It sounds like a lot of fun! How do I get invited?!

I think all your ideas are great! Is there any other ways to incorporate other aspects in to the day rather than so much 'entertainment' While I would love to see all of these performers some of your guests may start to feel like it's a bit much.

The idea of having the attire in island fabric is wonderful - would your fiancee be willing to wear a mexican mantilla for her headpiece in honor of your heritage (maybe one from within your family?)? Maybe with a Samoan wreath of leaves over it and you could wear a wreath as well. Since you are both American Indian (I'm assuming different tribes though) most definitely include that as well - maybe with jewelry?

I think this is going to be the wedding of the year amongst your family and friends! Good Luck and enjoy it!!

I think honoring your heritages is the best and most meaningful way of personalizing a wedding. You're joining two people, two families, and at least three cultures. What better way to do that than to celebrate them all?

I say look into all the possibilities you think would be fun, then discuss among yourselves which ones are most important to you, how much they're all going to cost, and how much you think your friends and families will enjoy.

As for me? I would think the wedding you've described would be an unforgettable party! Any chance I can snag an invitation? ; )

Of course, the more of your ethnicities you can incorporate the better - after all, the wedding is a celebration of the two of you! What a lovely treat your guests are in for!!!
Congrats, and good luck!

I think it sounds wonderful! In truth, ANY marriage is a blending of cultures. If you can embrace and enjoy all of them, then you and your guests will be better off for it!

Honestly, my husband and I are both American "mutts"...I would have loved to have a strong culture to lean on and show off at my wedding!

No way, not too much, sounds like fun! Go for it! There will always be people who are huffing and puffing at the fact that you're not having a stuffy "traditional" ceremony - but you can't make EVERYONE happy; just try and make yourselves and the your closest friends and family happy. Congrats.

Nope. The wedding is YOUR day to have fun. Do what you want.

My wife and I went to a Japanese Teppan-aki restaurant on our first date, so we decided to rent out a Teppan-aki restaurant for our reception, which got rave reviews from our guests.

We're an interracial couple, I'm white, she is black and we incorporated many customs in our wedding as well.

It was quite an event.

Good luck.

i'm having an identical subject, i'm a huge ol' redneck, he's a state-of-the-paintings jazz style of guy. Our compromise grew to become into conserving a competent blend of the extra important steam of the two styles of song. confer with quite a few DJs and notice what they are able to return up with, and confirm they have sufficient song to adventure your desires. solid success ( via the way i like Earth Wind & hearth )
