Martial arts is something i do every day and is a part of my passion, if you are starting, you should go with it, it's fun, and helps with mental stress , you can even show off some moves you learn

It goes in cycles for me- it has to. It is my retreat from the outside world when I need it, but it is also at times a source of frustration. I will say this- I couldn't have my life without martial arts, and vice-versa. For example, I know I have to work at my crappy job to afford going to classes, so I'd never skip work to go to a training session. On the flip side, going to class helps me melt away the stress from work.

A good martial artist can balance both martial arts and life. You shouldn't feel guilty because life calls you, and likewise, you should make room in your life for martial arts if you truly love it.

These are the top three things in my life:

1. God (Represent Jesus Christ!!)
2. Women
3. Martial Arts

My martial philosophies and my faith in God shape the way I walk, talk, think, and act. I use my Kuntaw (the art I train in) every single day. It doesn't necessarily mean I get in fights or practice the motions. It just means that I have intagrated the philosophy of Kuntaw (Never too much, never too little; use what is necessary) into every aspect of my life.

I started karate when I was 7, so it was very formative and in that way is a big part of my life because it helped shape who I am. now I only go every once in a while when I'm home from college, so as far as actually practicing at this point in my life it's more on the side.

it has been a big part of my life i started when i was 9 back in 1985, some of the lessons i learned in class allthough i didnt understand at the time made a lot of sence later on in life. I also refused to take financial gains ,alot of the students where brought to us by the police or had backgrounds where they couldnt afford to pay, i guess i put in about 30 hours a week of training/ teaching /learning besides my normal 40/50 hour aweek job. Last year i handed in my title as Branch Chief Instructor, as i have moved, so training now consist of me and my son in the backyard.

It is indeed a big part of my life, but I don't teach it for money, so my carreer takes up more time. I think a method of civil self-defense should be simple enough to be done by your average joe who works 40 hours a week in his spare time while having another hobby or two. This is probably why I never got into Shaolin Kung Fu. It is a style that requires full dedication.

It is a huge part of my life but it doesnt always occupy the biggest part of my time. I would liken it to food, we dont spend all day eating but without eating...
I would also add that I believe that someone who spends their whole day "eating" is missing out on a lot of life...
