As a wiccan, I was just wondering, since we're monotheistic (The belief in one God. Yes that's right other religions, wiccans only believe in one God and it's not satan) why do we often mention greek Gods in our rituals? Is it symbolism or something?

Wiccans aren't monotheists.
You need to do a lot more research, hun.

Not all traditions of Wicca are created equal. If your trad has a lot of things that don't make sense, you need a new one.

Edit: While many Pagan traditions are monotheistic, Wicca itself is not. Even those Wiccan traditions that think all the names for the gods are for one god tend to have a minimum of three gods. I agree with the person who said your question is very sad. Please don't take offense at that. I'm very concerned for the quality of the materials you've received...bad advice hurts everyone!

Disclaimer: Atheist.

I would think you mention them for the same reason all the great composers mentioned them: they're cool.

There's a line in Amadeus where Mozart is complaining that too many opera are written about ancient gods. He is told that it's because these gods "live forever." Not that they literally live, but their stories continue on, and what they represent will never die.

Hon, I don't think you got anything about Wicca righ (besides the non-belief in Satan as a part of Monotheistic religions). Please do some reading, your q. is really sad....

Yes. The names of all gods are simply names for the symbols they were to certain cultures - their view of them (or him or whatever). Apollo, Horus, Ra, Odin, Thor, Zeus, Juptier etc are all the names of that culture's view of the male energy, just as Gaia, Aphrodite, Ishtar, Isis, Eostre, Fyr, Bridgit, etc are all names of the goddess energy - all the same thing.

All these guises/identities are simply metaphors for the same energy that help people focus on it.

I'm a pagan idolater - I believe in many gods - either that or there's one god who has severe MPD.

Exactly how do you know your god is not satan? Do you not think he is clever enough to deceive people about his real identity? How would you or anyone tell the difference between the unholy spirit and The Holy Spirit? He sure had Moses fooled.
