When it comes to Gay, Abortion and Tolerant issues and isn't this what Jesus speaks of about Laodiceans Christians.

This was an interesting article on CNN about Gays and the church.
Revelation 3:16 "So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue thee out of my mouth."
"So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot."

Is homosexuality still viewed as a sin? A recent Gallup Poll found Americans nearly evenly split between those who saw homosexual relations as "morally acceptable" (47 percent) and those who saw them as "morally wrong" (49 percent).

Some religious denominations now welcome gay parishioners and accept openly gay members of the clergy. The Episcopal Church in America has even consecrated an openly gay bishop. But some of those same denominations, including the Episcopalians, are now threatened with schism
What are your thoughts?

Yes and no. But don't worry, just don't get caught up in the madness. Irregardless of what happens, as Jesus said, "the gates of hell won't prevail against my church."

I wouldn't consider CNN an authority on the church.

From the ministry staffs that I have been involved with, I usually hear the follow complaints:

1. The ministry staff are the hired guns of the church.
2. The lay people check their Christianity at the door when they leave the church.

And from non-believers:
1. Christians preach at you.

There is no reason to doubt that these are descriptions aren’t accurate and therefore, they describe a need. When I put these 3 complaints together, I hear only one problem: Application.

Sunday School, worship service AM, worship service PM, and Wednesday night all follow the same pattern. So what would you expect a brand new believer to look and sound like in 5 years when this pattern is all he/she see being modeled at the church?

If you have never had a dialog in the Sunday School class about Christian beliefs, then will the lay person know how to do anything but bang his hand on the office desk and scream sermons?

If you tried to act like the preacher and failed to win other people hearts by screaming sermons and pounding fists, then what conclusions will you draw other than that either:

1. God didn’t gift you.

2. Or that you aren’t qualified

like the hired guns to minister. The idea never occurs to lay people that they have never been equipped to minister. And if it does, they feel betrayed and usually quit church all together rather than seeking to be equipped. Education in general always has the problem of being applicable or relevant or even necessary.

So with a smile on my face, may I suggest the question be raised:

What does a Christian Realtor, Christian File Clerk, or Christian Ditch Digger look like since our Christianity is to make a difference in our lives?

And how does the church does after it opens the doors help those coming through the doors take their Christianity with them when they leave? Have their members been through a class on prayer or how to read the Bible for themselves with out a study guide as a crutch? The church is the only learning institution where beginners and people who have been studying for 25 years sit in the same classroom, with the same study materials, with the same questions and who are expected to give the same answers.

The church has Christianity a lifestyle that honors God instead of something that is done menally or just a feeling. Being PC has something to do with it but I am not sure how much.

What I will tell you is that the Creator of the Universe has not been weakened by our lack of faith. Should we stay silent, the rocks and stones themselves would start to sing His praises.

Hope this helps.

I think what two consenting adults do in bed is nobody's business but their own.

I think that the more intolerant churches get the more people will see them as not being kind or compassionate, and will move away from them. Then the churches will only be full of angry, spiteful people who want to control others, and over time will attract fewer and fewer people and get farther and farther away from bringing anybody inner peace. Which was their only redeeming feature in my view to begin with.

Homosexuality is a SIN. no matter how you look at it. tell you that our tolerance goes too far sometimes.

example: Columbine and VA tech

I have never heard that any Church or religious group would unwelcome gay or lesbian. Point not how they come. point is WHY do they come.

A church will only fall if it loses its congreation. Whether there are gays in church or not I think they should not expose themself especially in the church.

No. I think "the church" is failing because people are more educated than ever and in educating themselves they are realizing what "the church" is really about...
