Add Brewer's yeast and chopped agrlic to the dog's food to keep fleas and ticks away. It's an all natural alternative to the chemicals drops and the collars are only good for the immediate area they are touching so just around the neck but not in the rear or crotch area where fleas and ticks really like to get comfy. You can find recipes for the yeast and garlic on-line by typing in Bye Bye Fleas and they have a treat recipe that my 4 dogs really like and they haven't had a flea or tick prblem in 2 years.

Neither they are both topical drops applied to the back of the dog's neck between the shoulder blades.
You should wait 2 days after a bath before applying the drops, or wait 2 days after applying drops, to bathe the dog. The natural skin oils are necessary to spread the product (pesticide) around and down into the dog's pores.
The drops are a little oily so be sure and try to part the hair and get it down to the skin. Try not to pet the animal in that area for a few days after applying. Also be sure and wash your hands thoroughly afterwards.

Frontline is what most vets recommend. It's an oily liquid that comes in a little tube. You apply it on the back of the neck and the base of the rump by the tail. It actually spreads over the entire body in a couple of days and provides great protection. I took one of my cats to be groomed and as long as it had been treated, they would take it in because the medication kills very well.

They are both clear liquids that you put on the base of the neck and let it distribute by itself (no rubbing or spreading it by hand is necessary)....make sure you don't give him/her a bath immediately after or else you have to start all over again. Also do not touch the neck/back or shoulder area or you will get it on your hands. Read the instructions as well as far as how often you need to reapply etc....

My vet told me that collars are a waste of money and don't work. Instead, she recommended K9 Advantix because it repels against fleas, ticks, and mosquitos. It's a bit pricey but it's worth it.

its actually a liquid that you put on their fur in the back of their neck and down the middle so they can't lick it.
