Sure, as long as you are prepared to accept whatever answer comes, and don't get mad if it's a 'no'. I wouldn't ask, because if he asks, I know he's serious and really wants to get married.
- added - if you have been dating two or three years and he isn't asking yet - then something is up. A couple might love one another, but just not be a match for marriage. And shacking up always seems to kill the deal, if that's what you are doing....
Best thing to do if you are frustrated, is just talk to him honestly about whether the two of you have a future or not...

>_> I suppose if she started flailing her arms and screamed marry me at the dude, then yeah maybe.
I proposed to my fiancé, knee and all. Time was right and traditions only matter if you put any value into them. Romance is created by two people, not just one. It has to be a give and take sort of idea where you share in the love and let it grow, rather than just one person doing everything.
But hey, if the time is right, anyone proposing is simply splendid! :D

Sure a woman can propose!
I think in most cases, once the relationship gets to that serious of a point, it doesn't matter who proposes because if you're both in love, you know a proposal is coming one way or another :)

I don't know what "romantic" means to you and your b/f; I personally would not "propose" - but I had no problem discussing marriage with my husband, and letting him know that I was ready to get married. He never did "propose", we were just talking marriage one day, and decided it was the right time for both of us. Bring up the subject with your b/f, and ask him when he would like to get married.

I want to marry my boyfriend, but we are expecting out first baby and he says we have to wait untl after the baby's born so as not to stress me....lol, I even got a ring for Xmas, but no proposal.....even still, I wouldn't ask my boyfriend to marry me, just seems weird and very un-traditional.....

I think that either is fine.I mean it is traditional for the manto propose-but if you're not a tradational gal-then go ahead!!! Im sure he'll be really surprised and happy:) You know that feeling we get when someone proposes to us?Or the feeling you imagine getting?Well just think that that is the feeling he'll be feeling:) Trust yourself enough to do this!Let me know how it goes?

I wouldn't even though I got sick of waiting. My HTB would have been very pissed for taking away his fun.
To be honest I don't know of a couple where the women proposed and it worked out. usually because they guy wasn't ready.

Honesty, I think its kinda pathetic. I know i know.. its 2007.. but i would always feel like i pushed him into marrying me when he wasnt ready.
I just cant wait until my boyfriend proposes and would hate to take away that special moment!

My mother proposed to my step-father. He had proposed before and been turned down (Diff. relationship, diff. woman before he met my mom) so he didn't want to be turned down again. My mom wanted to make sure she was ready to be married again. When she did ask she took him to a nice dinner and gave him a watch that was engraved with, "Will you Marry Me?". It was perfect. They were married in March of this year. Then I gat married in October! Lots of wedding fun!

Not at all.....I was shocked when my fiance proposed to me....(I'm the guy). She's known for awhile that I wanted to marry her....but I wasn't going to ask her for awhile because she kept sayin' in front of people that she wasn't ready for it yet.....
Then one day she asked me....
I don't think it took the romance away from things at all.
