I just heard Wolf Blitzer announce that 2000 trailers left over from Katrina were going to Native American Tribes. I'm sorry, I don't have anything against the Sovereign Nations here in America heaven knows they've endured their share, but aren't they somewhat self sustained. Why are we "giving" these homes to them and why not to 2000 homeless Americans? I just don't get it... someone enlighten me without telling me how lazy and unwanting of help the homeless are because that is crap and you already know it.

Homeless Americans who are victims of Katrina must be provided with shelter by government and not just the Native Americans.

Because Fool. Were the ones who should be giving the trailers 2 u but its not like that. And its there fault there homeless so don't go feeling sorry look what they chose to do with there life.So if the people decide 2 sell native Americans a trailer let em because its there profit of money. Its really none of your business. So just let the Natives(of this Land)have something that will help us out.i really hope your not raises.

Indian reservations have some of the worst housing problems in the country and many of them are some of the poorest places in the country. On some reservations the problem is literally the physical quality of the buildings.

In most American cities the problem is not a lack of habitable spaces, it is a lack of habitable spaces people can afford. There are other problems like serious mental illness, drug addition and so on, but the real problem isn't about space it's about paying for space.

Native Americans are Americans. They are citizens of the US and have all the rights and responsibilities that go along with that.

Kurt H -- not all tribes have casinos or access to that kind of wealth. There are huge variations.

Native Americans ARE Americans.

Remember, they were here first.

After taking over their whole way of life and their lands, giving a few trailers to the Native Americans (who, btw, ARE Americans) is just a spit in the bucket.

Have you ever been to an Indian reservation? Not all of them have casinos. Most of them are comparable to third world countries, Pine Ridge is one the poorest areas in America, the 2000 trailers will be put to good use

it's quite simple.
you need property to put the trailers ON.
Most Rez ARE trailer parks.
Also since WHEN has this GOVT 'givin' anything for FREE??
they most likely SOLD them to a rez.
It's probably costing MORE to the old man to keep these trailers then to just liquidate them, and it's old habit to give indians "substandard" everything, land, water, food, hell why not trailers that are in their way too?

there are homeless natives too. 2000 trailers is a small price for stealing someones home and trying to eliminate them as a people. when hitler did it they called it a holocaust.
